Frogwares has just announced The Sinking City 2 for all current-gen platforms. The game will be using Unreal Engine 5, and you can find below its first screenshots and its announcement trailer.
The Sinking City 2 promises to be a full-scale survival horror game. According to the devs, it will put emphasis on combat and exploration. Players will be able to use an arsenal of 1920s-inspired firearms and melee weapons to fight against Eldritch-inspired admonitions.
The game will have a semi-open world environment. As you progress the flood waters will rise, changing the layout of locations when you return.
Moreover, players will scrounge for limited resources and balance a finite inventory. My guess is that this finite inventory system will be similar to what we saw in the Resident Evil games. Additionally, they’ll be able to solve optional puzzles.
It’s also worth noting that Frogwares will launch a Kickstarter campaign for The Sinking City 2. This campaign will allow them to add features such as the new insanity mechanic, more boss fights, full-performance motion capture for the main character, and more.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

Sinking City was a mess, but it nailed “lovecraftian detective noire” atmosphere. I have high hopes for this sequel
i saw the trailer and it looked interesting, then the game came out and i watched the first hour of it and i couldnt be any more bored or confused, the writing was weird and by that i mean “yeah there are monsters everywhere in the cellar and no one seems to care”, the game was advertized from the trailers like a sillent hill game but it turned out to be a open world investigation game with paranormal stuff that no one in the game seemed to care about. Upon realizing the entire game is searching to complete murder cases i stopped caring, its weird to me this is getting a sequel, did anyone even care about this game? Also are they seriously gonna release the game during the war?
Yeah it was a mess. but I finished it. Completed every single sidequest. It was captivating. I don’t know why. It was a true homage to Lovecraft. Detective missions were interesting.
so if i want this to be like sillent hill with dialogues and exploration i shouldnt bother eh?
nah, that’s a bit too high of an expectation.

People who watch cinematic trailers should be hospitalized in mental institutions.

No forced diversity? Strange….

Not yet
I hope they consult with sweet baby inc they really need their input!
More diversity is always good.
Well, the screenshots look amazing, i love how much detail they put in the maps.
But i really hope the game is good, lots to explore and play through.
i know somebody working on this game. from what i’ve heard they’re going hard on a Resident Evil 4 gameplay (RE4 specifically) and mixing it with the original game. so you’re right on that point John.
How?
Nice revisionism.
Frogwares was screwed over by their publisher.
