The team behind the cancelled Metal Gear Solid Shadow Moses Remake In Unreal Engine 4 announced its new project, The Fan Legacy: Metal Gear Solid. This project will support VR, will be coming to the PC, and will feature the original voice of Solid Snake, David Hayter.
According to the team, The Fan Legacy: Metal Gear Solid is a first-person experience allowing fans the opportunity to revisit some of the most emblematic MGS levels, and will feature many pieces of amazing fan art from devoted lovers of the series and their collaborators.
“As an unofficial, non-profit production, the project is a gift, from the fans, but also addressed to the fans; to share our affection for the seminal franchise.“
Regarding David Hayter, here is what the team had to say:
“We can also reveal that non-other than the legendary David Hayter will be involved in the project, which we are overjoyed by!”
The Fan Legacy: Metal Gear Solid will be released for free this May.
Enjoy!

Pfft, seminal franchise my *ss. This series is nothing but a trite, cliche ridden Japanese w*nkfest that prides itself more on melodramatic cut-scenes meant to fuel Kojima’s ego than actual gameplay. The latter is really only comprised of suffocatingly linear level design, woefully underdeveloped stealth mechanics and gimmicky boss battles.
A bit harsh.
so your saying your not gonna get this?
Hayter’s gonna hate.
Fission Mailed…
” cliche ridden Japanese w*nkfest that prides itself more on melodramatic cut-scenes meant to fuel Kojima’s ego than actual gameplay. ”
Welcome to kojima.
Also no mgs v is all gameplay nonlinear and very little story.
The mgs fans will play you like a damn fiddle…
inb4 cancellation.
Charlie Brown Syndrome? They keep on trying to kick that football.
LOL awesome.
C&D… C&D never changes
Told ya’ll this would happen… But oww ya’ll just said “this is a one man project” He can never remake the whole game. Apparently he does, and he got the original voice actor with him 😀 Can’t wait!
Why not reuse the audio assets in the official game? What could David Hayter possibly contribute to this project?
Actually, i didn’t read the description in the post(and neither did you, lol) this is not the remake of Metal Gear Solid, it’s only a recreation of some of the levels to walk around in first person. It’s basically Metal Gear Walking simulator, lol. That explains why it will be released so early.
LOL how about that! 😀
Third time’s the charm?
Told ya…
When will people learn.
F**Konami?

“This project will support VR, will be coming to the PC, and will feature the original voice of Solid Snake, David Hayter.” and will also be cancelled by konami.
This game will be cancelled….
So because I hate your terribly written, poorly paced and barely fit for purpose stealth game, I must either love CoD or open world RPG’s? No, I actually prefer good games where the designers understand that gameplay revolves around the player, their freedom and agency (rather than an egotistical director’s self-m*sturbatory attempt at a B-movie anime). Games like Thief and Deus Ex.
Metal Gear was revolutionary? I hate to break it to you, but Metal Gear was about 8 years late to the “invent the stealth genre” party, behind Castle Wolfenstein. As for Metal Gear Solid, it was behind Tenchu: Stealth Assassin in release date and behind Thief: The Dark Project in every f*cking way imaginable. There’s quite literally more actual gameplay in the first level of Thief than the entirety of MGS.
The only revolutionary thing this game did was regress the entire industry by virtue of condescending tutorials (PUSH THE ACTION BUTTON!) that lasted far too long, level design & game mechanics that offered no choice in how to approach any given situation, an infatuation with cut-scenes, and highly scripted set pieces now standard in every “AAA” game meant to pander to console peasants worldwide.
Fission Mailed…
I hate how sucessful this game is :^(.
I hate to break it to YOU, but Metal Gear came out before “Castle Wolfenstein” 😉
I’d also love to break it to you that YES, MGS was and still is revolutionary… it was the first stealth/action game and every single new MGS game RE-defined the stealth/action genre. And yes, MGS is one of the few games that even discusses so many topics, and also does them with such style on top of that. Don’t like it, that’s your choice, but there is a lot of awesome stuff there…
You can criticize anything, but it’s obvious you’re being critical for the sake of being critical, while forgetting the MANY things MGS did (and still does..) better than most games…
Breaking the 4th wall, Cinematics, Voice Acting, stylish BOSSES, DEEP characters with background as well as developing throughout each game, a DEEP story intertwined with history, COMEDY, lots of tools to use in your missions, etc etc etc… I could go on but I’m sure you’ll continue to go on hating that yea “MGS totally sucks, it has tutorials and it’s for console peasants hee hee!” …dumb.
If konami cancel this game again then this time david hayter will say not only he hates kojima, he will hate konami too. All the Kos~ he will hate lol
It’s obvious I cant convince someone that hates MGS and only comes to an MGS article to talk trash about it, lol.. but I just wanted to point out the many great things MGS did, even if you dont get/appreciate them. The MGS story is complicated, yes, but that doesn’t mean it’s a “mess”. Fans love it BECAUSE it is complicated and crazy, and because there is so much depth there. Same for the bosses, they aren’t meant to be “realistic”.. and they tell you their “life story” kind of like 007 villians do. And you’re telling me that Wing Commander had the cinematic level of MGS? lol, ok. Just because one game had pixels before another did, doesnt mean the newer game wasn’t REVOLUTIONARY.
