The Evil Within feature 2

The Evil Within on Xbox Gamepass has a FOV option and FPS mode

Yesterday, we informed you about the improved PC version of NieR Automata on Xbox Gamepass. And, from the looks of it, there is another PC game that appears to be more polished than its original Steam version. That game is The Evil Within, which now features a FOV option and an FPS mode.

According to numerous reports, the Xbox Gamepass version appears to be smoother and less janky than the Steam version. Moreover, this new version has an Infinite Ammo Mode, and Low/Medium options for Camera Bob. Additionally, there are now icons for lantern/sneaking in the first-person view. Lastly, the game’s stamina has been adjusted as you can now run for 5 seconds at default stamina (instead of 3 seconds).

Now in case the FPS mode sounds familiar, Tango Gameworks added a similar mode to The Evil Within 2. The first game never had such an mode, so yeah… this is a brand new addition to it.

We currently don’t know whether Bethesda and Tango Gameworks plan to bring these improvements to the Steam version.

  1. To me it seems like Microsoft is paying for better versions of games to make their cancerous store/service more appealing

    1. No, they just used Xbox version which always had those options

Edit: My mistake, company QLOC just confirmed that they was hired for new PC remaster of Nier Automata. It looks that MS paid third party companies for remasters of those old games.

    2. I think Gears of War Trilogy will never make it to Steam.

They’ll never port the actually good games to PC and that’s sad. To make it even worse Xenia is a piece of shlt and we’ll probably never emulate these games properly too.

    3. Calm down, guys. UWP is not as refined as Steam, thats true, but its not as cancerous as EGS or Beth.net either. At least its good to know a better PC port of games like Automata and TEW exist now

      1. At least with Beth u can choose where to install your games and it does not feel like some mobile app store for 80IQ people

  2. hahaha the haters in here man. holy sh*t. hating on MS for maiking the games better. xbox app works just fine, dont see why you faggoty faggy ni**er lovers hate it so much

    1. The bad reputation that UWP games have are fully justified.

It’s been proven UWP has worse performance than Denuvo-plagued games.

I’ve known a few people whose UWP Cuphead saves would randomly deleted over and over. They subsequently played the Win32 Steam ver and had no further issues.

When Ori and the Will of the Wisps first came out the Xbox and UWP vers had performance, lag, etc issues, but the Win32 Steam ver was perfectly fine.

When I played the Game Pass UWP ver of Halo: MCC I never had an achievements unlock. I subsequently bought the game on Steam and had no further issues with achievements unlocking.

    2. All the improvements are canceled by any DRM restrictions. I can tolerate games exclusive to a game platform (provided it can be pirated) but exclusive patches is another level of a$$hole.

    1. Because those aren’t UWP. They did say, not all the games on the app will be UWP. You can’t run a damn thing in UWP, because you must first find the file (good luck) & the exe for UWP aren’t really exe’s. They cannot be tagged or tethered.

      1. @Sr_Chalice:disqus I am on trial with Game Pass, if you know a UWP that doesn’t support, let me know I can check it out.

  3. I barely remember this game, and the few memories left are of a boring game.
Is my memory betraying me, or this deserves another chance?

  4. The version you can actually own out there has a trainer by enjoy that had an fov slider in it for years, it does make the game much better. The jarring screen effects and constant light flickering is what is so bad about this otherwise excellent game. Gatesteinberg and his associates at monopolysoft just doing their thing.

  5. As a casual gamer xbox game pass PC is the best $10 a month I have spent in awhile. Prevents me from buying games I wouldn’t otherwise play on steam now I can install them all be as confused of what to watch on netflix as I am about what to play on PC. The simple solution is usually Tetris Effect heh.

  6. If ms paid for a version that otherwise wouldn’t exist then I don’t blame them for keeping it exclusive. And good on them for improving older games no one else would touch. Shame as it looks like these enhanced ports can’t be purchased separate for Game Pass by the looks of it.

  7. FPP mode, DLCs are only available after creating and linking BethesdaNet account with XBL -.-
Otherwise “FPP Mode” is greyed out, but don’t worry you don’t miss anything game is not made for this FPP view, button icons appear 30cm froom front of your face…
