Fntastic has just launched The Day Before on Steam, and from the looks of it PC gamers are not that excited about it. In just a few hours, the game got Overwhelmingly Negative reviews on Steam, mainly due to network issues.
The Day Before is powered by Unreal Engine 5 and is visually underwhelming. The game does not take advantage of Nanite, and there are a lot of traversal stutters. I don’t know whether Mytona has used Lumen. From what I could see, though, the game’s lighting system does not look particularly impressive.
Performance-wise, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 was able to maintain above 70fps at Native 4K on Max Settings. Now since this title is in Early Access, we won’t be judging its performance. However, I thought these initial performance figures may interest some of you. Once the game leaves EA, we’ll have a proper PC Performance Analysis article.
Now as a lot of people claimed, the game does indeed have major network issues. It took us a lot of effort to find a server to join. And in that server, we had major lag/latency issues. So yeah, this is a pretty rough launch.
I’ve also seen a lot of people describing it as an extraction shooter and not as an MMO. And they are right. The Day Before is similar to Escape from Tarkov. You’ll get some missions in your base and from what I could see, the first three were “looting” missions. In other words, you’ll have to go to the city, find some items, and return them to Woodberry. The Journal and the Map also reminded those of Escape from Tarkov. Yes, the game has a big city to explore but its mechanics are similar to those of an Extraction Shooter. Okay okay, it’s not similar to Hunt: Showdown. However, if you’ve played Escape from Tarkov, you know what to expect.
The Day Before is also rough in terms of gameplay. Player movement is stiff, and all animations need to be further polished. The zombies are also as uninspired as they can get. The gun mechanics are serviceable. They are not awful, but they are not great either.
Finally, I wanted to share some gameplay footage from it. However, NVIDIA Shadowplay could not capture any from it. I don’t know what’s going on here, and I’m not really interested in troubleshooting it.
Ironically, after playing the game for two hours, I decided to relaunch it, only to find out that I had to create a new character and replay the tutorial. What the hell happened to my previous character? And why did I lose my house? Why did I lose all my progress? Jesus Christ, what the hell Mytona?
In short, I’d suggest staying away from it. At least until the game leaves its Early Access phase.

EA = Electronic Arts
EA = EARLY ACCESS, you moron.
I’ve been a gamer since at least the early 90’s, and that entire time EA has always meant Electronic Arts. They literally put it on everything they publish instead of their full name. If you just drop “EA” in a sentence without context, that’s what the majority of gamers are going to think you’re talking about.
but Dr Disrespect has been paid, I mean.. says it’s good…..

Wasn’t this game one of the most Wishlisted games on Steam at one point?
It’s not a pretty sight so far. Hell, even Mainstream Media is calling this game a dumpster fire. It has to be unusually bad for that to happen.
You mean someone actually bought this?
lol
Some did but they aren’t happy gamers right now considering the 4,000 overwhelmingly negative reviews on Steam on day one so far.
This game is what i would think about if you’ve asked me about a transgender person’s foreskin.
> It’s not an extraction shooter
Reviews roll in: It is an extraction shooter
LMAO, classic bait and switch scam
“At least until the game leaves its Early Access phase.”
This might be one of those that never leave Early Access. Why would they waste money on patching something they couldn’t make palatable in allegedly 5+ years development? All the money is coming in NOW. Any money they spend moving forward is a pure loss.
And it’s disgusting how steam just goes along with this obvious bait and switch marketing, they profit from it actually. How many millions did they make off of the bait and switch of cyberpunk at least what it was at release? If you’re the store selling things you should at least do some basic investigation as to the accuracy and quality of the products you’re selling and the marketing. I realize under 2hrs you can get a refund but the hassle of dling and installing and the bad impresion of customers should at least be in consideration by steam. Many also said that the map is nowhere near as large as advertised and it’s just what they call an extraction game. I don’t think we’re really that far from what the old movie “looker” describes really.
Totally unexpected turn of events…
when this game was revealed i said “this looks fake, dont get excited for this fake crap” and stop caring, i dont even like zombie games. Not caring about this game, it has been a rollercoaster ride to see people get excited angry and pissed about this game.
A developer with 2 incredibly shady Russian CEO, making a game that many people warned was an obvious scam, actually turns out to be a total scam. Shocking.
At this point I’m surprised people aren’t reporting a virus on their system.
The garbage that is allowed on Steam.

ok they’ve invaded Ukraine i can let it slip ,but THIS … nah
We have to draw the line somewhere, and it’s here.
it’s not surprising, since the first trailer ever i was like … damn another clone of “the division”
“What the hell happened to my previous character? And why did I lose my house? Why did I lose all my progress? Jesus Christ, what the hell Mytona?”
Are you surprised to see a scam barely holding up?
Well, you’re the one that thinks Scam Citizen is a game, so…
Oh dear, 8k negative and even the positive reviews on steam are extremely bizarre that I have to conclude they are in fact fake reviews. On the first page of pos. reviews, some of them are clearly criticising the game but the review was positive. But the in-game shots speak volumes, this looks like a game from 10yrs ago, this along is reason to pass on this game.
Looking at the pub. Mytona, there is no history of other AA game titles that I can see (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mytona). Removed from wishlist.
