Dying Light 2-new-1

Techland released an update video for Dying Light 2 with new in-engine footage

As promised, Techland released a development update video for Dying Light 2. However, and as we predicted, the team did not reveal anything meaningful. Instead, it is asking its fans to trust them, and that it will be talking about it soon.

At the end of this update video, the team shared some new in-engine footage. This is a teaser of a future gameplay video/trailer that will most likely come out in a few months.

Seriously, this dev update was a bit meaningless. The team did not address the game’s development hell rumors. Or the fact that during the game’s development, its writer, Pawel Selinger, left Techland. We’ve seen such dev updates from numerous studios without hyping them so yeah, get ready to be disappointed.

Lastly, there is a “2021” at the end of the video. However, and given what we know so far about the game, I’m almost certain that it will be delayed until 2022.

We’ll be sure to keep you posted about the game’s progress, so stay tuned for more!

  1. wow, just wow i had to watch it 4 times in a row just get a slightest comprehension of the video and how it literally showed/informed nothing! absolutely nothing about the game..i guess the prototype for feature “DEV Videos” is here…@daka54:disqus cringe fest level 9000

  2. I hardly watch trailers, teasers, etc. Let alone dev updates lmao who cares? wake me up when it’s up on torrents.

  3. Woooooooow, we were graces with a whoooole 50 seconds of new footage that could have been filmed as long as 3 years ago.

Also, these devs needs to understand they aren’t cool. They are nerds. Stay in your lane nerds.

    1. “They are nerds. Stay in your lane nerds.”

Pretty much, they don’t model or voice the characters based on their appearence(for good reason), they should stick to coding stuff.

  4. I just started playing Dying Light The Following Enhanced Edition for the first time 3 days back…loving it so far!
I really hope they can deliver a good sequel and not an absolute mess like Cyberpunk 2077!

  5. Better to not get hyped… by any game really. Let it come when it come, check proper reviews and then perhaps buy and take it for what it is. Often its best to even buy it later when most release bugs are squashed and by that time its often available at a discount too – I would call that double win really.

That said… off to X4’s new expansion… got a galaxy to conquer!

Like a certain franchise’s word of wisdom – “Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment”

  6. get ready to be disappointed.

I concur. What’s with the console fog everywhere? I know 40 seconds of edited footage is not much to go off of but literally any previous videos (trailers, gameplay videos) looked much more impressive.

Also Techland should stop pretending to be CDPR and try to ingratiate themselves with the audience by releasing such videos where they are presented as these pro-gamer developers. A lot of good it did for the latter.

P.S. I see they stuck with the unique and nonsensical zombies. They fly now? In my opinion one of the weak points of the original were those huge Hulk-like zombies and big guys with sledgehammers. It would be way better if they concentrated on more human-like zombies and how humanity degrades under zombie apocalypse revealing all the worst human traits.

  7. I called it on social media that it would be a waste of our time, the developers time and the media time for this when they could have easily, quickly and freely made a press release/statement.

Show me actual gameplay that lasts a decent chunk of time or don’t bother. The industry is getting too fond of announcements for announcements that then get delayed for more announcements.

I’ll predict this. The game will likely be a disaster on the level of Cyberpunk and Anthem, Jason Schrier will have the inside scoop once again, various YouTubers will sow outrage and then the game will be forgotten about a month later when other better games come out.

  8. I’m trying to be interested in this, but is just for the lack of good games in the past 10 years or so. Still no success!
