State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition is coming to Steam on March 13th

State of Decay 2 has been exclusive on the Microsoft Store for almost two years now. That time is almost over, as it should, since an improved edition of the game will be made available through Steam on March 13th.

First of all, this edition will be free for all existing owners of State of Decay 2, including Xbox Game Pass members. The Juggernaut Edition is an expanded and improved version of the original game, adding tons of new content and improvements.

The studio created a brand-new open-world map in a rugged logging town named Providence Ridge. They also completely rebuilt the post-tutorial experience to better teach players how to play the game.

There’s also a new category of heavy melee weapons and a wide range of graphical improvements, including better lighting and foliage optimization for better performance.

They fixed dozens of mission and gameplay bugs and improved the audio experience, including additional music that doubles the total amount in the game.

All add-on packs will be included in the Juggernaut Edition.

Below you can watch a video featuring some of the improvements of the Juggernaut Edition.

  1. CHRIS KUNTOURAS, LOOKS LIKE YOU HAVE RISEN FROM THE DEAD YOURSELF, MUCH LIKE THE ZOMBIES FROM THIS HERE GAME. MAYBE GO BACK TO BEING DEAD.

  2. What? This is State of Decay 2 – “Very easy edition”
    – night is no longer black but light blue (easy see everything)?
    – huge base so you can build every building (lack of space was hardest part of game)

I hope we can block this update. Game should be harder like Heartland not easier. This is wrong direction

    1. This has been gaming ever since 7th gen ended. It’s all about:

Making games as easy as possible/Hand Holding
      Microtransactions/loot boxes
      Grinding
      Begging for easy difficulty levels
Adding RPG & RNG elements to every game
Prettier graphics instead of more advanced gameplay (AI, levels, mechanics, physics)

99% of devs/publishers care about the casuals over the gamers. This gen shows that clear as day.

      1. In original version it was huge risk to go outside of base at night at higher difficulty (hard or nightmare) because you can’t see feral zombies from safe distance. Now every zombie will be visible in middle of night and you can shoot any feral zombie without any problem

        1. Oh trust I know. I co-op the game with 2 friends on Nightmare and pretty much did everything there was to do when we had game pass. This approach to make everything easier is ruining games.

    1. If you liked first game try it now before update (better black night). You can play it from Game Pass for 1 usd for 3 months and get also new Ori and Will of Wisp in march and Gears Tactics (xcom) in april.

Best mode is Heartland, it is story driven like first game – free with game pass.

    1. same here awful combat and the core gameplay which is scavanging is pointless because the ai uses up your resources when you DONT play the game.

  3. State of Decay 2 had been poorly rated by critics and US Gamers(Metascores [One // PC]): 66 // 69 – US Gamers rating: 3.3/5 so 66/100

We can highly doubt of the interest of this update more than 22 months after its launch, we’ll see if this “Juggernaut Edition” will be loved by Steam gamers

Or if it will end like Gears 5 https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/36afb5ceebdea58ab596610277d0ba2f2edd790d77fa24b69aab32351ebe751c.png
