QLOC will remove the 30fps lock from Mortal Kombat 11, Patch #3 available for download

QLOC has released the third patch for the PC version of Mortal Kombat 11, and announced that it is currently working on removing the 30fps lock from it. This news comes after the release of a mod that removed the 30fps cap, so it appears that we have to thanks the modder for this upcoming official framerate fix.

The third patch for Mortal Kombat 11 fixes a major source of desyncs that would occur in Group Battles, an issue that would prevent calling another player for help in a Tag Battle/Group Battle while using the keyboard, as well as an issue that could cause players to die twice in a row when failing a puzzle in the Krypt.

Update #3 also prompts players to perform a benchmark before starting an online match in Towers of Time, addresses several issues with TAA, makes mouse cursor is now displaying correctly while in a menu in the Krypt and brings several minor mouse/keyboard input fixes.

As always, this latest update will be downloaded from Steam the next time you launch its client, and you can find its complete changelog below.

        1. There’s no reason to not have a uncapped option though… like… at all (obviously outside of the actual fighting).

          1. For some reason NRS thinks it’s a amazing idea to make fatal’s, special ending moves in their fighting games capped at 30 fps. It’s been like this since MK9 came out on PC / Console.

Maybe they make it 30 fps because they are being lazy and do not want to make a slow motion effect in their engine?

          2. It’s literally for parity. That’s it…. why do you think so many modders can make a 60 or uncap fps option so quickly (within a day or two).

Nier Automata, Sekiro, Dark Souls series, DMC when it came to PC, Metal Gear Solid Revengeance, Dynasty Warriors series, Tales of Zestiria, Dead Space series… the list is soooo long it’s not even funny at this point.

If games before 2010s have uncapped frame rates (Borderlands prime example), there’s NO excuse for this sh*t in 2019.

          3. Well that’s what happens when dev’s only care about consoles and not PC 😀

    1. Its currently 60 fps during the actual fighting only. But they are planning to change that:

“Additionally, on the topic of having the certain parts of the game run with a framerate cap of 30 FPS, we hear you. We’re currently working on providing the option to increase the caps in those areas to 60 FPS. We’ll have more details soon, stay tuned!”

  1. Wow so Qloc went as far as getting permission from NRS since the 30 fps limit on the menu, fatal blows, and fatal’s was intended to be like that.

Most likely due to console hardware limitations since I could see them stuttering on a current Gen console at 1080P such as a PS4 / Xbox 1. Pretty sure a Xbox X could pull it off at 1440P but lol wow.

    Good job Qloc 😀
