PUBG Battlegrounds has transitioned to a free to play model

PUBG Battlegrounds, also known as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, was one of the first battle royale games on PC. And today, PUBG Corporation has made this game free to play for everyone.

As the development team stated:

“Now with our free-to-play transition, we want to further expand our community, provide faster matchmaking, and the opportunity to meet more opponents.”

In PUBG Battlegrounds, players will land on strategic locations, loot weapons and supplies, and survive to become the last team standing across various, diverse Battlegrounds.

Alongside the transition to the free-to-play model, PUBG Corporation has released a brand new update for the game. Update 15.2 introduces a whole new category of tactical items, Tactical Gear. Tactical Gear strays from pure gunplay to provide its players various options for improving their in-game performances.

You can download and start playing PUBG Battlegrounds from Steam.

Have fun!

  1. So basically the initial paying crowd will now see even more things locked behind micro-transactions and what not nickle and dimming schemes?

    1. Only thing that costs real money in this game is cosmetics and has always been like that. You can also get some cosmetics for free by playing the game.

      1. Do you play to look “good” or for the gameplay?

I also liked the good old days where I could change my player/weapon models in CS just by downloading some files, but like it or not, there’s no going back to those times anymore. These days it’s good if there’s no pay to win content.

        1. This. Reminds me of the recent whining about the Halo Infinite 100% cosmetic MTXs. Seems that some people really value playing Barbie doll dress up with their digital soldiers in these MP games, LOL.

  2. absolutely no one saw that coming….lol, jokes aside, this might actually kill fortnite since people play it and by people i mean children, because it was free.

might as well play the real game now and not the kiddie knockoff.
