Project CARS Delayed Yet Again, Now Coming Out Mid-May

Slightly Mad Studios and Bandai Namco today announced that Project CARS will be available for PC (and current-gen consoles) mid-May 2015. As the press release reads, the shift of the release date is due to the team’s continued dedication to polishing the game.

Ian Bell, Head of Studio at Slightly Mad Studios, said:

“Despite our long heritage and pedigree in making critically-acclaimed racing games, Project CARS is by far the grandest and most intricately detailed of them all. Despite therefore the game being 99.9% complete, the remaining 0.1% attending to small issues and bugs has been tricky to anticipate. We’re absolutely dedicated to delivering a ground-breaking experience and by targeting mid-May fans can be assured that’s what they’ll receive. Again, we want to thank our fans for their support and patience on this matter. There’s a high expectancy from racing fans around the world that Project CARS is going to be an exciting new contender in the simulation racing space and we firmly believe gamers deserve it to be in its most complete and polished state when they come to play it on day one. And since the gaming community is our primary focus and has always been at the heart of the project during development, we would like to offer some free content to all players as compensation for this short delay and as acknowledgement of how grateful we are. This gift, that we’re sure is going to excite fans, will be available from day one and revealed shortly. Keep an eye on our website for more info.”

Project CARS aims to deliver the most authentic, beautiful, intense, and technically-advanced racing game on the planet.

Crowd-funded by a passionate community that has been involved in the development process from day-one to create their ultimate racing experience, Project CARS includes the largest track roster of any recent racing game, a huge variety of motorsports to play, a freeform and authentic career mode, world-class graphics and handling, dynamic time of day & weather, and a suite of community features and connectivity that leave the competition behind in the dust.

  1. they could at least let those who pre-ordered the game play the unreleased version of it. What’s the point in pre-ordering it if I won’t be able to play until release, when some guy who paid $10 two years ago can play it as of now? Many people I know would pre-order it if we had the possibility to play its current version D:

    1. You know i actually don’t understand why people pre-order anymore i remember i used to do it when i had a console and i was scared they would run out of copies but now its digital anyways.

So i wonder why do people pre-order in 2015 i would even like to see dsogaming do a article on it.

  2. I have high expectations for this game with all the delays. It should be optimized to the nth degree.

  3. so it’s doomed, every time assetto corsa gets a patch project cars get delayed. how many times they delayed it ? 5times ? more ? why announce a release date ? judging by beta and videos out there, the game is far from finished, it’s not 99.9% more like 49.99%

  4. Who gives a sh*t about ProjectCAR’s?? well at least I don’t!!
Have you for how detailed models were in Forza Motorsport 4 on a outdated hardware of XBOX 360? The didn’t took that much time not as well as Assetto Corsa. I think Slightly Mad Studios are blood relatives of Rockstar Games XD XD
