PlayStation VR2 App officially coming to Steam on August 7th

Sony has launched the Steam store page for the PlayStation VR2 App, revealing that it will become available on August 7th. This basically means that on August 7th, PC gamers will be able to use the PlayStation VR2 headset to play their VR games.

As Sony noted, PC gamers will be able to install the PS VR2 App to use PS VR2 on your PC, set up their PS VR devices, and keep the firmware for PS VR2 headset and PS VR2 Sense controllers up to date.

Sony has also shared the PC requirements for PlayStation VR2. PC gamers will at least need an Intel Core i5 7600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or AMD Radeon RX 5500XT GPU. PlayStation VR2 requires at least Zen 2 CPUs, as well as NVIDIA’s Turing GPUs.

And there you have it. PlayStation VR2 is described by many as one of the best VR headsets. A lot of VR gamers wanted to use this headset on PC. And, in around two weeks, it will be possible to do so.

Ironically, this may be the only thing to save PSVR2. From what we have seen, Sony launched and immediately abandoned PSVR2 for PS5. Hell, some could say that the support for the first PSVR was better than what console gamers got with PSVR2.

Anyway, as I said, this is great news for PC VR gamers!

  1. Sony: "We noticed you looked under the skirt of that anime girl without her permission. Your headset will self-destruct in 3..2…1"

  2. Sony: we cant be bothered putting effort into VR on our own system so we'll be really lazy and quickly release a PC adapter.

  3. Smart on them to move units. Crazy the thing costs more than the console. It was probably a tough sell as an accessory.

  4. Will it work like plug and play or anything else needs to be purchased to make psvr2 work on pc?

    1. Plug and play, but foveated rendering plus headset haptics doesn't work (maybe some programmers could do the work for sony)

  5. Damn now I regret getting the quest 3 last year as this thing would make all the horror VR games really shine with it's OLED screens. Though already stopped using the quest other than occasionally playing beat saber, which has only held my interest due to amassing 1000+ songs from modding the game. Don't see the average PSVR2 user figuring out how to do all that on PC.

    1. Ya because clearly, the Oled screens (durp) are a match for all the WiFi goodness the Q3 has.

      yepyep.

  6. PC gamers treated like a second class citizen, PSVR2 is a failure for Sony, and no one buy them cause it's over priced and add nothing to the table. I'm very curious to see how it's going to do on the PC market.
