SPINA Studio has just announced PHASE ZERO, a game with 32-bit graphics and fixed camera angles that is a tribute to the classic Resident Evil games. This will put a smile on the face of a lot of old-school fans. So, if you are one of them, you should definitely check it out.
PHASE ZERO will have pre-rendered backgrounds and fixed camera angles. It will also retain the 32-bit art style of the games that came out on the first PlayStation console. Moreover, from what I see in the trailer, it will have tank controls.
In PHASE ZERO, two survivors try to escape with their lives as mysterious creatures roam the streets of Flint Peak. Players will face horrific monsters, solve puzzles, and escape the town in this classic survival horror.
Basically, this is a Resident Evil clone. So, if you miss those 32-bit games, you may love this one.
There is currently no ETA for when the game will come out. However, SPINA Studio plans to release a demo soon. Naturally, we’ll be sure to let you know about it as soon as the demo goes live.
Enjoy the trailer and stay tuned for more!

Animations look wonderfully done. Sound fx needs adjusting. I see it also retains the classic title announcer sound. But that wobbliness ugh. Can't understand why devs are so fond of it. I hope there's a toggle for it. Overall it's nice
The glorification or r3tarded pixel graphics is nothing more then pure mental illness in the age of hyperrealism in gaming tech.
its easier and faster to make a game look like that than hyperrealism.
Hyper realism is tired, and boring. Stylized art, is timeless, even in 32-bit format.
this is all too accurate, games that use sprites, stylized art, prerendered BGs end up being more timeless and something that can be enjoyed time and time again.
its also simpler and allows development to be put towards stuff that matters more like story and gameplay. i think a good blend of the two actually was REzero, it had pregenerated video files as the backgrounds and simple but really well-done 3d models for the chars and enemy's. too bad story was kinda bad with that one.
Games based on new technology became obsolete in zero time, because newer , more "realistic" technologies borns everyday.
Games based on "art" and "fun" never.gets old
cant wait for ps2 graphics, or better yet for indies to reach 2004 pc graphics, graphics dont need to get better than that.
why not go the same route as Resident evil 1 remake visually, i'm very biased toward tank control and fixed camera but damn even i can't stomach these wobbly pixelated mess.
My God, it looks *horrible!
