Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 new feature

Paradox Interactive is trying to kill the momentum and hype for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 by locking two of its clans behind paid DLC

You know what? I don’t get it. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been in development hell for a long time. It was so bad at one point that Paradox Interactive had to replace the studio working on it. So, you’d assume the publisher will opt for a consumer-friendly approach. But nope. Instead, Paradox Interactive is doing everything it can so that it can kill the momentum and hype for it.

Yesterday, Paradox Interactive announced that Bloodlines 2 will come out on October 21st. We also got an extended gameplay video for it. And yes, this might not be up to the ludicrous standards you may have set for Bloodlines 2. But hey, at least the game is now going to come out.

In a truly bizarre marketing move, Paradox Interactive has already announced a day-1 paid DLC. This DLC will unlock two distinct and powerful vampire clans, each with unique abilities and playstyles, as well as a total of eight new outfits. So, yes. Paradox has locked two vampire clans behind a paid DLC. This is hilarious.

I’ve said numerous times that DLCs are the cancer of gaming. I’ve been saying this for A LONG TIME, and I’ve never purchased a DLC for any game. And I sure as hell do not recommend pre-ordering games that have paid DLCs at launch. Especially those that lock gameplay content behind it. Because it would have been a bit OK if this was only a cosmetics DLC. But nope. Paradox went full greedy on this one.

In Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, you get to explore the World of Darkness and climb the ranks in the vampire world. The game takes place in Seattle, a city full of fascinating and sometimes dangerous people and groups. This sequel to the beloved classic lets you make choices that can shake up the balance of power.

In this game, players can use supernatural powers or clever words to trick normal people into following them into dark alleys, where they can feed and satisfy their Hunger. But you have to be careful. If humans discover what you really are, you’ll break the Masquerade, the secret rule that keeps your kind hidden from the world.

According to early previews, Bloodlines 2 is not as a heavy RPG game as a lot of fans would have hoped. The game seems to be more linear than what you’d expect from a sequel to Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. In a lot of ways, this feels more like a action stealth game with some RPG elements than a proper RPG game. So, if you are expecting an RPG similar to the first Bloodlines, you will be hugely disappointed.

Let’s hope that after this backlash, Paradox will make this DLC available to everyone who gets the game!

  1. "I’ve said numerous times that DLCs are the cancer of gaming"

You know what's cancer too? Paid mod, and yet you are promoting them for whatever reason. I guess everyone has double standard.

  2. "But hey, at least the game is now going to come out."
Not so fast John, they can still cancel it yet, or pull a Concord and do a post-release abortion

  3. "Paradox Interactive is trying to kill the momentum and hype"

what momentum and hype? Like i said in the other article it looks like an abomination that makes me a libertarian want the military to barge in and arrest everyone making this trash. How does this game look worse than the previous version? Also no guns, its not really an rpg its a melee fighting game, neon colored lighting everywhere bad writing and characters meh. Paradox is gonna paradox so dont support them. Its funny how both this an chronos look like they have terrible generic combat and both were made by walking sims studios.

      1. Dude it's just America, no need to be selective about which place is worse. The whole country is a basketcase trying to drag us all to hell, but hey no antesemetism.

    1. Sent this picture to three of my friends. I swapped sides they were on, and clipped off the heads. I asked them to identify which one was male, and which one was female.

They all got it wrong, because the norm is that the male is usually the left option. They all picked the left one, but they all said they were unsure too.

      Ya………

    2. Well you can justify that vampires look feminine and gay and that's why the guy looks like a f4g/tr4nny but if that's the case, why is the girl masculine?
      There's clearly a tr4nny agenda here

        1. There’s no such thing as a vampire, we assume what vampires look like becase of how they’re portrayed in the media.
In most movies and games, they’re portrayed to be gay looking because you can’t suck men off and not be gay.
Because of this fact, you can’t be be into vampires (men suckers) and not be gay. I’m basically calling you gay mr.Pyke

          1. Basically, till Anne Rice's novels, vampires where vampires, usualy bloodthirsty, deranged, EVIL.

The "feminine" vampires you see now are a direct influence of Ms Anne Rice take of the vampire mythos.

          2. Bro, I loved vampires in 30 days of night, that's how vampires should look like but that doesn't stop them from being gay, they still suck on men.
You can't be straight and put your lips on another dude, this is basic biology.

          3. I prefer the ones in 30 days of night over the ones in sinners
The vampires in sinners sing and dance, it’s something that homos do.

    1. That sh*t is not always reliable
Men of war assault squad 2 locked the skirmish multiplayer behind a dlc and I couldn't get creamapi to work so I just pirated the whole thing.

  4. No DLC purchase EVER? what about definitive editions that include previous dlc? you didnt get the DLC for XCOM2 or something like Halo 3 with it's multiplayer expansions? No MMO sor Sims game expansions?

almost forgot to comment about the game. I expected the game to be off when they said they got a new studio or lead just last year and exclaimed it would be out this year. I only thought it would be super short but shaved off dlc is crazy.

    1. Does goty edition counts? One thing i dislike is how they kill progression in games, usually the games i pirate come with all dlc and it is immersion breaking to get a high level gear early in the game.

  5. The game deserves to be a flop since the first reveal and multiple delays, this is just another nail to their coffin.
Using a vampire Karen to promote it as the cover doesn't help.

    1. No announcement of it or mention on the Steam store page, so I assume not… but I kinda hope it does so I don't disappoint myself by trying the 'free' version of it.
