Outlast 2 releases in a few days and its final PC requirements have been unveiled via the game’s official Steam store page. According to the PC specs, PC gamers will at least need a 64-bit operating system, a modern-day dual-core CPU, 4GB of RAM and an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 260 or an ATI Radeon HD 4870 graphics card.
Red Barrels recommends an Intel Core i5 with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660 or an ATI Radeon HD 7850.
In other words, Outlast 2 will most likely run on a variety of PC systems, though it will be interesting to see whether it will be able to compete with Resident Evil VII’s visuals.

more devs should add he framerate and resolution target to the requirements
Or they could label 720P@30fps “Cinematic Ubisoft” and 1080P@60fps “PC gameplay”…
I think it should be taken one step further… remove the terms “Minimum” and “Recommended” and put 720/30 and 1080/60 in their places instead. That would be much more specific in getting the info across. This should be treated as the de facto standard instead of the current scheme.

Graphically Outlast 2 is nowhere close to REVII. That’s because it’s still using UE3. On the flipside it works well on a variety of systems, at least going by the demo.
Yeah, the demo was smooth as butter.
Arkham Knight uses UE 3. That game is a beauty.
Yeah, but Arkham Knight modified it heavily to make it look that good. From what I’ve seen in the demo Outlast 2 seems to be using the stock engine. Not that I’m complaining since it runs very well on my system and there isn’t a whole lot to appreciate visually given that the game seems to be quite dark most of the time.
Been a bit since I played the demo. I thought the gfx were really nice. RE VII looks great overall, mainly the characters, the textures on everything else not that amazing and there are some weird visual artifacts from some of the settings.
Actually i’m able to play the demo, because i never uninstalled it. It looks as good as RESVII.
I have it installed as well, and I can absolutely guarantee REVII has much better textures as well as lighting. However, I don’t own REVII myself and I’m just going by what I’ve seen of REVII gameplay on YouTube.
Of course that’s not to say Outlast 2 is a bad-looking game by any means. Just that REVII is superior in terms of looks.
RESVII looks better lol. But Outlast has better Requirements/Visuals ratio.
Meaning you can get better visuals with less performance in Outlast compared to RESVII because of old engine.

At last! Minimum and recommended settings are meaningless without these informations…
Hopefully they’re still working towards having a Linux version after launch.
For those interested Outlast 2 will also be coming to GOG if you want a DRM free version.
Couldn’t even play 1hour of the first one. I’m sassy like that.
“it will be interesting to see whether it will be able to compete with Resident Evil VII’s visuals.”
the demo on xb1, looks better than re7. im sure pc will look even better.
But the recommended is running on max settings? I played the demo and have slowdowns in some areas. Running i7 2600k & GTX 1070. Then i tried the ps4 demo, silky smooth. Graphic differences arent huge. And yes its 60fps too. Will buy the pc version only if the slowdown issue has been fixed. Or else will just get it for ps4.
the next news will be it is using denuvo
i wish they implement a proper drm solution for the all pirates lurking around this site
