No Man’s Sky has been delayed to August 9th

Hello Games has announced that No Man’s Sky has been slightly delayed… again. The game was scheduled for a June release but Hello Games’ Sean Murray announced that the game will be now coming on August 9th.

According to Murray, the game was delayed in order to further polish it.

“As we approached our final deadlines, we realized that some key moments needed extra polish to bring them up to our standards. I have had to make the tough choice to delay the game for a few weeks to allow us to deliver something special.”

No Man’s Sky is now planned for an August 9th release in North America and an August 12th release in Europe!

    1. So now graphics decide how good a game is?
They are beautiful for me, by the way.. It isn’t achieved by some cutting-edge tech but rather by a conscious stylistic choice.
The graphics are meant to remind of old sci-fi book covers and I like it.

      1. We agree to disagree! To me the colors looks weird like the devs were high on drugs or something. Red grass wtf?

    2. “What’s so special?” I don’t know, maybe the fact that it’s the only game of its kind to ever be released? No other video game in the history of mankind allows you to truly explore a universe from an fps perspective and lets you explore entire planets and seamlessly leave that planet and discover other planets.

      1. Yeah, the game may eventually not pan out right (their goal is very hard to achieve) but at least their try to introduce something brand new and they deserve praise for that alone.

          1. Right, on ridiculous Steam and as a pre-order, you’ll pay those prices.
However, you can wait some time and search the game in different, less dumb stores and you’ll find it way cheaper.

      2. Erm, this is a game that I’m very, very excited about, but “only game of its kind to ever be released and yadda yadda”.

        Nope.

        1. Oh? Care to give me an example of a game (that will be out by august) that allows you to do the same things as No Man’s Sky?

          1. As said by Sean himself, Elite/Elite Frontier was a major inspiration for NMS.
Noctis also comes to mind as a great example of universe exploration.
Space Engine let’s you fly through the galaxy and planets and all that jazz, there’s bugger all to do, but it exists.

So yeah, NMS excites me to no end, but I’ve seen it before. There’s more “stuff to do” per say, but it still adding to formulas of what came before. 🙂

      3. I thought the good looking Star Citizen would let you do that too, here the graphics and especially the colors looks plain weird like the devs were high on drugs or something. Red grass, dinosaurs stomping around etc..

        1. That’s due to their unique procedural generation based engine…and the fact that pretty much everything in it is built from ground up to accomplish such huge variety in all models and textures. Other than that though – which is pretty cool btw – not much else seems to be going on in NMS.

      4. Yeah but that’s because in other games there’s usually something to DO on those planets. In this game there is not. You just keep flying from planet to planet and you can collect “resources” or whatever but you can also not. The only legit gameplay there is is some dog fighting combat AGAINST AI, and they won’t show the combat so there’s yet another bad sign.

    1. While I agree, gotta be careful this game has quite literally attracted rabid lunatics to its fanbase. They started slinging death threats to the journalist that first made announcement of the delay

  1. wasnt this game delayed because they couldnt get it to work on the ps4.all the viedo footage you saw of games play was from pc.thats what i herd the reason was.

  2. The Xbox really is not that better seeing as how their are xbox channels like Crapgamer,Zaire, and blacklylebowski who each send death threats to journalist who gave Quantom broke a bad score, stalking people at gamestop to influence their console of choice, or even telling people that America only matters in sales. So really both communities suck.

  3. Don’t care about this game at all specially when it’s an online only game but i praise it’s devs for releasing it on GOG.

      1. Can you play it offline ? really ? if so then great. i heard planets will generate on their servers and whom ever find them first can name them, that means online i guess.

        1. Everything is generated locally, you can upload the discoveries to the server. This is from the playstation blog by one of the devs:
“The world around you is generated by your PS4 (subsequently PC aswell) at the point you visit it. Leave and it’s all thrown away, but if you return it is generated again exactly as it was. This also means the game will be completely playable offline.”
          And this:
“The Atlas is everything everyone has ever discovered
The No Man’s Sky symbol stands for the database of all the things that players have discovered and chosen to share with the world.”

  4. Thanks but no thanks I will save my money for Star Citizen and the new Deus Ex game. This game have zero appeal to me. Ugly graphics and weird colors is not my thing!
