Nintendo Switch feature-2

Nintendo has successfully taken down the Nintendo Switch emulator, Ryujinx

A few days ago, we informed you about The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom running extremely well on PC via Ryujinx. And, at that time, I believed that there was nothing Nintendo could do to shut it down. Heh, how naive I was. Because, as the title suggests, Nintendo has figured out a way in order to take down the second-best Nintendo Switch emulator.

In just a matter of months, Nintendo has successfully shut down both Yuzu and Ryujinx. These were the best Nintendo Switch emulators that were available on the Internet.

What’s interesting here is that the Big N did not send the Ryujinx team a DMCA. Instead, it made an offer to its lead developer, and from what we’ve gathered so far, gdkchan agreed to it. Thus, all public downloads and the GitHub repositories have been removed.

So, although the outcome is the same, Nintendo approached Yuzu and Ryujinx in a completely different way. It sucks but from the looks of it, gdkchan could not refuse Nintendo’s offer.

We all know that Nintendo will soon reveal a new Nintendo Switch console. And, since it’s been so desperate to combat Yuzu and Ryujinx, we can assume that the architecture of the Nintendo Switch 2 will be similar to that of the first Switch. In other words, it should be easy for talented coders to create an emulator in record time.

So, there you have it. Right now, there aren’t any major Nintendo Switch emulators. At least not up to the standards that Yuzu and Ryujinx set. I’m certain we’ll see some forks of them. Still, the brains behind them have left the scene. So, I don’t know whether or not we’ll see any major progress from now on.

Stay tuned for more!

  1. As if nintendo didn't already make everyone hate them with the mess with palworld or striking youtubers.

  2. I fking called it….
It might have been multiple reasons for this but i blame the zelda game being leaked early…

    1. That's not on Ryujinx but on whomever leaked the game from retail early. Sounds like they did this on purpose.

      1. It's a scene from a Godfather movie I think. The mafia used to put a horse's head in a person's bed while they slept to show that they can get to you at any time and to say they were making you an "offer you can't refuse" or in other words do what we want or we will kill you.

  3. For Nintendo to be able to manhandle these guys so quickly, it's obvious they were either involved with leaking software, using copyrighted material in Ryujinx, or some other shenanigans.

Something exposed them, and Nintendo had them by the throat. This happened way too fast to be otherwise.

These guys got caught with something, and Nintendo took advantage of it. No doubt. Switch emulation exploded far too quickly back in its day, to have been just reverse engineering.

    1. We can also entertain the much simpler notion that the dev(s) have simply been coopted. Friendly reminder that both yuzu and ryujinx are from the new wave of patreon'd emulator devs. So they obviously had a financial interest in it from the beginning, unlike emulators of old which were made out of passion and/or nerdiness. So it could well be the case they were made an offer to stop developing it for cash, or a much better paying job offer, things like that.

      1. Emulators of old were absolutely financially driven and selling them is 100% legal and that case was won long ago. What they should have done is kept a tight lid, gone closed source and sold their emulator for profit that would have unironically made them better protected.

    2. Very strange, I thought those devs in Brazil would be safe, since the copyright laws in Brazil is non existent. Anyways fk Nintendo, never ONCE bought their games never will.

Maybe I will buy the switch 2 and leave it for a year to get it jailbroken and pirate all their games, since I think a lot of emulator devs would think twice before trying to make an emulator for it

  4. Those early leaks were what sealed the deal, it gave the lawyers and executives a fire under the a*s. I find this most damaging for game preservation, so many 3ds games/ps2 games/psp/vita games can only really be found via roms/hacks. Plus having played BotW on switch and PC @ 4k120, its such a waste on switch, the switch GIMPS games.

  5. Under rule of the Nintendo, games are not art or product; but mere volatile and consumable live services to dominate over customers and the tool for ruthless elimination of the competitors.

For Nintendo and their cultists, video games preservation is theft and competition is crime. Under their mob rule, our future generation will not be able to enjoy what we currently do, and parallel economy will be outlawed. No legacy, only disposable live services. No market, only monopoly.

Nintendo is the definition of 'You will own nothing and be happy'.

  6. I think all the switch games library is already fully playable with the emulators now. So, Switch has ended and so did the emulators. Albeit not in a way we wanted. It's time for switch 2 emulation.

    1. nintendo is working with denuvo to make sure that doesnt happen, the games will detect the emulation and stop working.

      1. Ah yes! as if it wasn't the case for PC games as well until a legit crack appeared. Don't worry, there are warriors alive on earth. They're gonna take revenge and with a vengeance

        1. buddy the only person that was cracking denuvo was a crazy person that has disappeared off the face of the earth.

          1. Empress right? I know. But last I heard, she said she hasn't quit but that the games aren't worthy enough to be cracked & she won't crack capcom games. Don't know how that goes but it is what it is. Good news is, Rune is a new group already up for the task

          2. Ofcourse She did. But news came after that, when people began asking about dragons dogma 2 and Sf6 crack.

  7. What is with this obsession with Nintendo.

Switch is a locked-down console meant for toddlers. Pokemon targets 5-year-old boys and Animal crossing targets 5-year-old girls.

Who are the manchildren who even want to emulate this stuff on a PC. If you want a mobile console, just get a Windows handheld that isn't locked down.

    1. Nintendo makes good games, it's as simple as that. Keep gating yourself out though, out of ignorance and trying to appear mature (which is ironically, one of the biggest forms of immaturity, and about video games even, of all things).

      1. Actually, it's pure cringe to see adult males get excited about Pookeemon.

The Peter Pan Syndrome used to be rare, now every other male is some urbanite weeb watching anime cartoons and playing Pokemon like a child. They can't change the oil on a car, can't chop a piece of firewood, can't cook a meal worth eating, but they can tell you every creature from pokemon. Completely useless to a woman. I'm amazed they're not buying baby pacifiers yet.

        1. I don't play pokemon either, more a metroid/zelda/mario kart guy. But it's their money, their time, not my problem. Freedom is not just about the things you like. And your concern with all that is to make yourself useful to women? Lol, how subservient and pathetic. Ironic for you to be worried about that when all obligations have been lifted on the modern female side, but you're still here, thinking these roles still exist and are relevant.

    2. You just wasted 3 paragraphs when you could say in 1 line that Switch fanboys are manchildren. Don't waste your or anyone else time again.

  8. i hate nintendo, i dont like their games, they ruin everything they touch, they are now going after palworld. Stop buying nintendo.

    1. Yeah fr, never bought nintendo games and never going to. And just noticed this akxaikmu guy downvoting everyone who suggests pirating nintendo games. Sad b*tthurt fanboy

      1. or a b*tthurt femboy, which ever you prefer my good sir. sitting on lap of uncle Nintendo is his dirty little secret.

  9. I hope Switch 2 has some kind of retrocompatibility, so i can emulate and pirate their new games too…Nintendo earned it.

  10. Does Nintendo realize that we don't even play their games anymore?
Like, who cares if we can't emulate Nintendo consoles at this point?

They haven't released any good games since the DS era, 20 years ago.
And even the DS era was already disappointing, cos most good games were sequels/clones of GBA games. (Castlevania, Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, etc.)

That freaking company is literally DEAD since 20 years at least.
Why do they pretend to be still relevant and that what they did is hurting the emulation community?

    1. You're extremely delusional. A fiscal report not long ago found out Nintendo is solvent for 20years, that is even if they don't do anything else anymore, just stop and coast by. I wish my bank account was as dead as nintendo's.

      1. It's common on game sites for gamers to say that a company is doing poorly financially just because they don't like a company. Most gamers have never read an Annual Financial Report or even know how to understand one. Nintendo, as you said, is doing very well financially. Having said that, I wish they weren't because of some of their actions but I'm not going to make sh*t up and comment it as if it's a fact like some do.

        1. It is common because so few people blast these idiots for their stupid, false opinions. Your wishful thinking at the end of your comment also factor in in the cope and delusion that goes around these parts.

  11. I wonder if there was any money offered in this deal or just complete legal threats. If Nintendo had actual evidence against them you'd imagine they'd just get thwacked over the head like the Yuzu/Citra team.

  12. Litigious, Vindictive and overall insufferable, no wonder your games leak 2 weeks before release, at this point pirating and emulating Nintendo's Games is more like civil duty.

  13. I didn't realize Suzu also stopped updating their emulator back in June.. down to just Sudachi now I guess..

  14. There is a chance, albeit a small one, that Nintendo could use the code to bring official PC versions of their games to other platforms including PC. If that is not the case, then this sucks as the Switch hardware completely sucks. The fact that the emulated versions are so much better than on the original hardware speaks volumes about how poor the hardware is.

    1. I doubt Nintendo needs any help porting games to PC. I think the real issue is the mindset of Japanese companies. They are hard-wired in their brains to believe that PC gaming amounts to little and console gaming is where it's at because in their country that is a fact. Even Sony is struggling with the whole PC gaming market and hence the reason that they don't see a problem with forcing the PSN requirement even though PC gamers very much don't like being controlled and they struggle with that concept.

      1. I have been to japan, every other nerd (which are majority) sitting on trains, bus or waiting area or outside of class room is playing a game on a handheld. PC gaming is a niche market in japan.

  15. yeah this was on a hacker site the day of it being taken down, not a surprise w nintendont really. Hopefully we can get switch2 emus or even use these ones if it's same architecture etc Only thing that sounds remotely interesting is another open world zelda game really, totk was pretty fun. Enough mario and all that don't really need more, not interested in the other n ip.
