The team behind the Metal Gear Online 2 PC project has announced that it will bring back the Survival Mode in 2023. In order to celebrate this announcement, the team has also shared a new trailer that you can find below.
But what is Metal Gear Online 2 PC? Basically, it’s a project that attempts to restore the online functionalities of Metal Gear Online 2 via the Playstation 3 emulator, RPCS3.
In order to make the game’s Survival Mode to work, the team had to devise a way to implement dedicated server hosting for as cheap as possible. And they succeeded.
“To achieve this, TriggerHappy reverse-engineered the game’s peer-to-peer network protocol which allowed us to host dozens of matches on a single server.”
Alongside the Survival Mode, the team aims to add various fixes and updates to the custom maps. Furthermore, players can expect a brand new map (that will become available later this year).
All in all, we are really impressed by what the MGO2 PC Team has managed to achieve. So, if you are a Metal Gear fan, we strongly suggest downloading it and giving it a go.
Have fun!

nice
Why didn’t anyone save mgo3? Wasn’t it superior? Wouldn’t it still be hosted if people played? Why is mgo2 better than mgo,3
lol it was kojima got fired because he purposely made a incomplete and bad game to give us “phantom pain” while blaming it on Konami as a joke lol so meta and cost them billions and the stagnation of many classic series because autismo korimbros boycotted everything
MGO 3 sucked because the maps were mostly places from MGSV. And the game play was way different. I remember waiting to play on PC and it was dead pretty much on launch. Also If I rememebr correctly MGO3 did not have a sever browser but MGO 1 & 2 Did. I played MGO2 on PC thanks to Save MGO but even with my beefy computer the frame rate was a*s. Since it is emulating a PS3 it is all on the processor and My 3090 can’t do shiet to help it. If I could play MGO2 at a stable 60+ frames I might be okay. 90 plus and I would probably only play that. They also did a Save MGO1 and I never got to play that. Wish I did. I imagine the frames would have been awesome on that.
What’s your CPU?
On MGS4 I could maintain 60 FPS most of the time with an Intel i7-11700F (Rocket Lake), which has full support for AVX-512.
That was on Linux with a custom build of RPCS3.
