Mafia 4 will be called Mafia: The Old Country, first teaser trailer

2K Games and Hangar 13 have announced that the next part of the Mafia series will be called Mafia: The Old Country. In other words, Mafia 4 is Mafia: The Old Country. And, to celebrate this announcement, the teams shared a teaser trailer that you can find below.

In Mafia: The Old Country, players will discover how organized crime began. The game will attempt to tell a tough and intense story set in the violent world of 1900s Sicily.

Players will fight to stay alive in this dangerous and harsh time. As the devs noted, the game will have authentic realism and rich storytelling, things that the Mafia series is well known for.

2K Games and Hangar 13 have not revealed any additional details about it. However, they promised to share more in December 2024. This means that we might get a gameplay trailer at TGA 2024. Or at least that’s my assumption.

This trailer features in-engine footage. Now since we’ve seen several in-engine trailers for games that looked better than the final products, I suggest taking it with a grain of salt. Still, it can give you an idea of what the devs will aim to create.

Moreover, the official Steam store page features some direct in-engine screenshots. The interesting part here is that these screenshots were not featured in the trailer. In other words, they are proper direct screenshots. Thus, I’ve included them below. So, make sure to view them.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

        1. Really what? the remake besides the obvious visual upgrade is awful. Not far from 3 in terms of gameplay.
At least the story is mostly the same, and that was good in the original so no credits there.

          1. at t least the combat isnt as bad as mafia 1, or the race mission, so if the story is the same what is the problem? The first mafia game aged poorly when it came out.

          2. I said the story is the same as the original, so is good…didn't said it was bad (even when the acting of the characters is more of a charicature version of the original). The race mission was acknowledged as poorly design in the og, so of course the remake was an opportunity to fix it…kinda a low bar there.
The combat and driving are the same as 3, so is crap…but yeah, 2000s third person combat wasn't up to our current standards…shocking. The OG game is a better made game if you consider the time, it came out.

          3. Do you realize it's a 2002 game we're talking here right? It actually was pretty good for back then's standards.

          4. yes it was, source every other shooter released in that era, laughable high recoil with the entire screen jumping up and down, you had to use a tommy gun in semi auto and even then you had to slow down.

          5. So since a single weapon was designed poorly you trash the entire game’s combat, you realize yourself you sound ridiculous.

          6. It has a decent combat, it’s fine, i’m not saying it’s particularly good, it doesn’t make the game worse in any case.

  1. It will be another unoptimized garbage that can't do full screen unlocked frame rate to save it's life. Mafia Remake is broken as fuq and they never cared to fix a damn thing. FUQ this franchise and I'm done wasting my money. How can one development team be so out of touch.

  2. never got into the mafia series but may give it a try if they're gonna play into some of the best tropes of the classic mafia movies

  3. Well, Mafia III did finally sell about 7 million copies although I can't give a good reason why other than so many gamers will buy damn near anything. I never played it and probably never will. I recall the feedback being that it was mediocre to poor. Don't hold much hope for this one either.

    1. as someone who enjoyed the first 2, 3 did feel like a big step down. id like this game to be good because I find the subject matter interesting. that said H13, to me, has not proven themselves so far either.

    2. Wait, so you hate Mafia III but you never played it? 🤔

      1. Never said I hated it. Just chose to pass on it. I imagine you decide to not play games without ever trying them as well.

    1. That should be the least of your worries when they can't even code for shxt. Oh boy, you're looking for attention in all the wrong places. Mafia Remake and so was Mafia 3 is broken and all you care about is not playing as Blackie. As a matter of fact they robbed us all but as long as Blackie ain't on the screen you're good. While you're at, make me one game that's NOT, "WOKE".

    2. considering the game takes place in 1900 italy, i think this will be hard to do and the remake did not have nonsensical diversity.
