EA Sports has revealed the official PC requirements for Madden NFL 19. According to the PC specs, PC gamers will at least need an Intel Core i3-4350 or an AMD FX-4330 with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660 or an AMD Radeon RX 460.

EA Sports recommends the exact same CPUs and amount of RAM and an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 670 or an AMD Radeon R9 270X. As the team noted, these PC specs will offer PC gamers at least console-level gameplay.

    1. This is the most blatant example of it, but it’s a trend we’ve been noticing for quite a while now.

Hardware is close to peaking (especially CPUs), meaning a new generation won’t provide a substantial increase in performance compared to the previous one.

Many games have been citing a GTX 650/660 as minimum specs for 3 years or so? In many cases the 500 series still does the job, hell even the newer Intel HD will do too. GTA V for example runs on a potato.

      1. but I think some new gen CPU and GPU models are much faster than previous gen, depending on what hardware arc they are based on.

yeah games do run well on old hardware as well, but i think more demanding new games are better played on new hardware. i’m talking about graphic intensive titles.

        1. Sure, graphic intensive titles or, more like, badly optimized titles run better on top of the line hardware for obvious reasons. But I’m speaking in general terms here.

Before you could clearly see the difference between a game from 1994 (let’s say DOOM) and a game from 1998 (let’s say Half-Life). But a game from 2014 (Far Cry 4) looks virtually the same as a game from 2018 (Far Cry 5).

Furthermore, now there’s even less difference between low and ultra graphical settings.

          1. on max settings 1440p 2018 games look better. far cry 5 looks WAY better on my pc maxed 1440p that i played it at 40 fps average with my gtx 970 and ryzen 1700. But that because i had 1080p monitor in 2014 and got 1440p in 2016 while still have gtx 970 from 2014 till now.

          2. doom2, 1 and final doom looked like crap! but see doom 3 max settings even at 640×480 compared to dooom max settings….. LOOKs much better. same for doom 2016 on 1440p max settings looks way better than doom3 max settings 1080p

          3. DOOM looked like crap? Do you realize the game was released in 1993? Were you even born then?

          4. YES because iam 30 years old but i got my first pc in 1996 and it had doom installed. DOOM as i said was my first game i played on my first pc. A 486 100 mhz 24 mb ram and 14” 640×480 monitor. Yes it looked terrible! Terrible graphis. Pixels evrywhere. Blood was not blood just red pixels. But DOOM 2016 max settings 1440p looks amazing and cant wait for doom eternal gameplay in 4 days!

          5. Dude wtf are you talking about? Name other 1993 3D games that don’t ‘look like crap’ in your opinion.

          6. All 1993 games look crap because computers at thatt time werent strong enough to have so good graphics like today!

          7. And you’re 30? You’re either lying or your parents are related to each other.

By your ‘logic’ all games from today also ‘look like crap’ because 25 years from now we’ll have better graphics.
