Square Enix revealed – via the game’s official Japanese Twitter account – that the PC version of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII targets an Autumn release. Although Square Enix could not give a specific date, it claimed that the PC version should hit Steam this Autumn.

According to the tweet, the team responsible for the PC version needs a little more time in order to finish it.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII-2, concludes the storyline of Final Fantasy XIII, and forms part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis subseries.
The game sports a revamped version of the gameplay system from the previous two games, with an action-oriented battle system, the ability to customize the player character’s outfits, and a time limit the player must extend by completing story missions and side quests.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

I don’t want to be a drag but there’s no way I’m getting this game until they patch the performance of the first two. And that’s not hyperbole, the performance of FFXIII-2 in particularly is so poor that I genuinely do not have confidence in this one being much better.
fortunately i didn’t have any major problem with FFXIII-2 but for the first one i used GeDoSaTo.
I still can’t get the first one to lock in at 60fps for the life of me, bounces up and down between 30 and 60 all the time. But if you cap at 30 you can at least get a stable experience at whatever resolution you please. FFXIII-2 on the other hand fluctuates all over the place, with some fights crashing into the mid/low teens regardless of how low (or even how high) I put the settings.
For reference I have a 8350/970, which should totally chew through these games.
i see that’s unfortunate. doubt the frame rate was any better for the console version though and it certainly will be worse for their new games on the next gen but those crashes can be really annoying.
That’s the thing. FFXIII-2 is totally more stable on the PS3. It still fluctuates like a b*tch and never goes above 30, but it was a lot more consistent/stable than the PC version.
And that makes no sense to me in the slightest given that my hardware is overkill for this game, even going by the recommended specifications.
I’m sure FFXIII-2 might not be all that great a game, but I’d still like to play it and get a smooth experience doing so. It’s rare that a game performs so poorly I just drop it. And I hope that Square Enix sees fit to patch it so I can at least get a stable 30fps.
yea as i said the PC one has better frame rate in general for most but all the crashes and stuff that can happen to some makes it a pain in the ***.
since personally i didn’t experience problems like that i can only talk about steam reviews and based on them FFXIII-2 got a more positive reaction by the mass compared to the previous one. doesn’t mean it’s optimized or anything though but it is a better effort than the previous one. maybe with Lightning returns they are gonna finally pull it off hence the delay.
The graphics in FF13-2 were broken – you couldn’t even choose your resolution, and to make it worse the plot and combat system were darn-near incomprehensible.
I’ll get a good 20 minutes of enjoyment out of Lightning Returns just reading the horrible reviews it’s going to get on Steam 🙂
I got the game some time after its release so I never played the vanilla port. But I can confirm they did at least patch the resolution issue.
Did they? I don’t see any new patches on Steam.
The game has a config when you open it that lets you set resolution, including any DSR factors. If you aren’t seeing any patches it could be because they patched the config itself rather than the game.

halo master chief coming to PC?
It’s probably best not to trust Microsoft when it comes to PC gaming.
This is getting out of hand…. “….targeting an Autumn release”? Couple this with no further news on Type-0 PC aside from MSi’s leak and things aren’t looking very good.
The announcement was officially confirmed by Square Enix themselves shortly after the leak. So it is happening. The game was supposed to be shown playing on MSI laptops at Computex though, so I’m confused as to why there’s no footage of it on the internet.
That’s exactly my point. All this is rather confusing…. That leak should have already made its way online. Almost makes me think that the demo for Type-0 didn’t happen at all especially after the leak.
Not too much of a happy camper right now to be honest.
this game sucks anyway dont release it on PC
When it comes to jrpgs something is better than nothing, even if that something is sh*t.
Well, I can’t wait to play dress up battle with lightning. And seeing as Star Ocean seems to stubbornly stay on consoles, we need whatever we get.
enhancing PS2 assets to PC must be a real b*tch
shooters > JRPGs
is it 1998 again where JRPGs > shooters?
LOL! Who cares? As a PC gamer, after seeing all the bad reviews of the FF XIII trilogy and the mediocre ports of the previous two games, this game isn’t on my radar at all! I don’t even get a feeling that I’m missing out.
Most people complaining about bad reviews either complain cause they heard of others complaining, or they havnt played the game, or they’re new to final fantasy or they dont get how j-rpgs work. Final Fantasy 13 is far from the best, but its no where close to as bad as people make it out to be. Linear game play? Yeah, they doesnt change it from being a final fantasy. Only problem I’ve had with it is repetative enemies. Everything else is just fine, though only played XIII and XIII-2
