According to a leak back in July, Crystal Dynamics was preparing remasters of the first two Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver games. And it’s official. Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1-2 Remastered is real, and it will be coming to PC on December 10th.
The studio responsible for these upcoming remasters will be Aspyr. Aspyr was also behind the Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Collection. That collection was well received, and this new one appears to be similar to it.
In Soul Reaver, players will assume the role of Azriel. Players will slay their former vampire brethren with their claws, bolts of telekinetic energy, and the elemental Wraith Blade. To grow stronger, players will be devouring the souls of their enemies.
One of the biggest game mechanics of the Soul Reaver games was the ability to shift between the Spectral and Material Realms. So, players will traverse the realms to solve puzzles, reveal new paths, and defeat their foes.
Below you can find the official trailer for this collection, as well as two comparison screenshots. These screenshots showcase the improvements that these remasters bring to the table. As we can see, we’ll get better 3D models and higher-quality textures. The lighting also appears to be slightly improved.
All in all, this collection appears to have the same visual improvements as the Tomb Raider collection. Thus, it will most likely please all of the Soul Reaver die-hard fans.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

I wish Crystal Dynamics would stick to their own franchise instead of trying to erase Tomb Raider's history and pretend to be improving it. That way, they would only ruin their own franchise instead of the legacy of a competent dev studio.
The game FromSoftware stole all their ideas from.
FromSoftware did King's Field back in December 1994 on PS1, that's where most of their ideas come from, stop spreading BS please
Which ones, which games?
Finally a good PC versions of these games.
The original port was very sub-par back in the day.
True, up until this point, emulating the Dreamcast version was the way to go, AFAIK.
Admittedly, Aspyr can be hit & miss; for example, their Linux ports were always atrocious, similar to their recent remasters of Star Wars: Battlefront.
And even their remasters of the original Tomb Raider games needed some setting changes in order to run smoothly on Windows, as pointed out by Digital Foundry.
no one said anything about linux.
is this one gonna have mouse support? if not i wouldnt call it good.
The mouse support will be same as tomb raider remaster aka equivalent of an*s cancer.
never played it because i finished 3 and the expansion pack and i was gonna play 4 before the remaster was announced but there was no 4 in the remaster. So how does it controls? Do you shoot with left mouse button? Can i turn and look around with the mouse?
Are you talking about tomb raider?
If you’re talking about tomb raider remasters, do not use the mouse controls, it’s terrible.
I never got into this series for some reason. I think technical ones at the time. I see big ratings for both of the games. Are they that good? I want to give the remasters a chance.
No
This should be nice…
Great news!
So it went from looking like a PS1 game to a PS2/early PS3 game? Still happy this is being made but wish they'd gone further with the graphical and lighting updates.

It's so stupid how they make the statuegender ambiguous, and yet it drags on…
Wait, but aren't things turned INTO women in the EGS trend? Yes, the update botched it, but it's a bad argument.
21 years we've been waiting for a sequel to Defiance. 21 years waiting for proper closure to the plot, but suuuure, let's just remaster 2 plot heavy games that are smack dab in the middle, and the worst part is, that I know I'll end up buying them again.
Kind of sucks but it's more promising than that multiplayer game they shat out some years ago.
Oh hell yea

I posted this on the stupid Horizon remaster, but it bears repeating:
It's quite dangerous to let western devs in charge of "improving" characters, mocap, voice lines, etc. Even on a western developed game, you pick a downgrade at your own risk, and the game world will become gayer, uglier and less white. There are already evidence of downgrade in this remaster, you get some texture improvements with gay communism.
YYYYYEEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!
25 years waiting for these to be improved upon!!!
They ruined battlefront collection. They added a cultural warning in tomb raider. Do not support this studio
