Halo: The Master Chief Collection is officially coming to PC in 2019, will include Halo Reach

Microsoft has officially announced that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be coming to the PC in 2019. What’s also really great here is that the collection will also feature Halo: Reach along with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, the Halo 3: ODST Campaign and Halo 4.

But wait, there is more. Instead of releasing it exclusively on the Windows Store, Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be also coming to Steam.

According to its description, The Master Chief’s story is brought together with a total of 67 campaign missions plus more than 120 multiplayer maps (including the original Halo Combat Evolved maps) and Spartan Ops maps. The PC version will be built with mouse and keyboard support and up to 4K UHD and HDR, and is a dream come true for all Halo PC fans.

In order to celebrate this announcement, Microsoft has also released a new trailer dedicated to the PC version that you can find below.

Enjoy!

  1. “Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be also coming to Steam”

I’m not the biggest fan of these games TBH, but I’ll probably grab it just to support this move. Might even give Reach multiplayer another shot.

  2. Launching reach first on steam. Then the other games. Microsoft actually making the right moves on the platform. Lets see if they can keep it going.

  3. 6 Halo games on PC.
    Remake of Halo 1.
    Remake of Halo 2.
Halo 3, ODST, Reach and 4.

What a time to be alive.

    1. only thing left is the OG Xbox & X360 emulators that Phil Spencer also wants to bring to PC, hopefully on Steam too! xD I need that Gears 2 & 3,Ninja Gaiden Black and the fps Black on my PC via Steam!! 😀

      1. I just want: Fable 2, Heavenly Sword, Gears 2/3/Judgment, Ninja Gaiden, Red Dead Redemption and I think that’s it?

        1. What I want is just able to play DOAXtreme beach volleyball, because bouncing ball is life…

  4. “Master Chief Collection coming to PC”

    … yeah. I don’t care.

    “Coming to Steam.”

    HOLD UP. WHAT??!?

  5. On steam and halo reach!
    Its christmas already!

Now if only rdr1 and 2 would follow suit that would be perfect

    1. RDR2 is almost guarenteed
      RDR1 probably never gonna happen…officially
Xenia and RPCS3 give us hope

      1. Take Two may soon be in need of our money given how hard Red Dead Online beta has been failing and also tanking their stock market valuation!

        1. i used to think like that but again why would they bother if majority of that game is in rdr2? but again if there’s a market for it, it will happen.

      1. Ditto. I’ll very likely buy Halo TMCC now it’s coming to Steam. If they’d held it prisoner to Win 10 Store UWP then I may have pirated it.

Perhaps the only negative so far with Halo TMCC is the absence of the PC exclusive Halo Custom Edition. Oh, and being forced to use Xbox Live.

    2. so getting this!!! missed the series, now i get to play it once again!

      Edit –
MGS HD legacy collection and NG collection should be next.

  6. Talking of SPECTRE, I wonder if Sp4ctr0 Spencer will resurface so to congratulate us all on taking yet another exclusive from his beloved Xbone!

  7. Also, the game will feature unlocked framerates on PC, support for a variety of resolutions, including ultra-wide resolutions and offer updated graphics and support PC specific features like rebindable keyboard/mouse controls and FOV adjustment options.

The Master Chief’s arrival on PC will happen in stages with each title releasing one by one over time – giving the development teams the ability to ensure each one is right, while giving players a chance to jump in right away, rather than having to wait for the entire suite of games to be completed.

The first game of the collection to release on PC would be Halo: Reach, and that the other games in the series will release in “chronological order” thereafter.

    1. Hmm, that’s a mixed blessing then. Much like when buying a game’s season pass, there’s little incentive for the dev’ to do a great job on future content when they’ve already got our money. I’ll probably wait for it to be feature complete before considering it for purchase.

      1. Xbox owners didn’t need to wait much, they got more than 10 years to make those ports, and they are slacking again, maybe they release the 6 games in 10 more years…

      2. Precisely my point. Hence for why the smart move is to wait for all six featured games to be properly optimised and patched before buying it. Lest we forget what a humiliating catastrophe the initial release of Halo TMCC was on Xbone.

    2. YES CANT WAIT. I just finished Resident evil 2 for the second

          1. Go to youtube and see them Shredder Orokusaki is my profile. I just uploaded first mission of devil may cry 5(started it 2 days ago)

  8. Since Microsoft is iconic Americans company,I don’t think they want to put their games on Chinese owned game store,so they decided to strengthen their bond with other fellow Americans which is steam…

    1. that’s not how business works but microsoft’s gaming section have been struggling to scrap whatever is in the bottom of the barrel for a while so that might be a possibility.

  9. I was told that the Steam version will force you to run the games through Windows Store kinda like how modern Ubisoft games function. Dunno if I was being trolled but I’ve had more than one user telling me that. Can’t seem to find any official confirmation anywhere.

  10. And DirectX12 is coming to Windows 7 as well.
I’m honestly impressed, been a while since I saw a company doing exactly what it’s audience wanted.

    1. It’s funny because windows 7 extended support will end January 14, 2020.
So what’s the point of bringing directx 12 to it ?

        1. Ah ah, good one, but Windows 10 is here to stay, at least microsoft claimed they will keep the name and change the OS over the years.

  11. something tells me they’re going to announce something on E3 that needs PC player base support. my guess would be some free2play battle royal garbage.

  12. Lmao suck it down windows 10 fanboys and corporate shills, you know who you are…

But there is still much more that needs to be done, like the other games exclusive for win 10

  13. Steam?! Really?!! WOW!
Didn’t expect that at all! What is this a parallel dimension that we’ve landed in from the one where the atrocious M$ Store was the only release platform for Micros#!t!

Now if they keep doing this…ppl will actually buy game on Microsoft store just for support from time to time!

    1. Actually i’ve been noticing microsoft listening a bit more to consumers lately, even with the edge shifting to chromium browser and listening to the suggestions community made for next w10 updates…Looks like they’re changing, we’ll see what happens in future…

    2. They keep track of sales on their stores and realized how many potentiel customers they left out…
they also observed other releases and estimated that Halo MCC will be profitable in the 48 hours after release on STEAM.

      1. Not the first game they released on Steam, let’s see the newer exclusive Win10 games like Gears4, Forza, etc

  14. To be honest, it’s a great move. bu but you are so negative, hell i don’t like Halo and FPS in general but releasing your darling series on PC and not making it exclusive to your own Winstore is a pro customer move.

On the other hand stupid morons behind Phoenix Point despite advertising their games to be on GOG and Steam now are going to release it on EpicStore with 1 year exclusivity.

          1. Sure, Doom (not a big fan, Hated Doom3), Half Life (big fan) and Painkiller and such are great games, but still i’m not really into them as much as i was before. i like FP RPGs tho, KingdomCome or Deus Ex etc…

I pirated Meto Exodus, played couple of hours and uninstalled it, graphics were pretty, characters were good but man that was slow (movement not pacing – level design was f’ed up). before that i guess it was Wolfenstein New Order that i got for like 5$ and played 2 3 level then uninstalled it. and maybe 2 or 3 in the past 5 or 6 (maybe more) years.

          2. when i have time, i like all sorts of games but as much as i hate to admit it as i got older i started to dislike games that require player’s attention and a little bit of brain power. i guess i became what i hated the most, i like brain dead shooters.

          3. Nothing wrong with that, sometimes i have a free day and instead of playing games that i like i play some puzzle or mindless shooter looter etc… just for killing time. Dynasty Warriors for example, they are all below average but like for a week all i do is to play a DW game, killing the same enemies in the same maps with the same combos over and over again.

          4. if you’re into strategies i recommend bfme 2 and age of the ring mod. also if you haven’t played project brutality, trust me, you need to do it now.

          5. it’s not a self promotion since i don’t care about youtube but this is what i like:
            watch?v=HDkIGP7oyYY&t=55s

  15. next update, bring in it all forza series and gears of wars series to steam pc, microsoft….. ^^

    1. Someone explain this to me. We have Forza 7, Horizon 3 and 4 on PC. Given these are after all just racing games, what would we gain by having the previous Forza games on PC?

  16. I sure hope that for the Steam release Valve hasn’t given Microsoft permission to feature the need for an Xbox Live account so to access multiplayer content. We had enough of that nonsense with Microsoft’s Games For Windows Live.

Any news yet on whether the Steam version will feature cross-platform play with the three lonely souls accidentally buying it on Win 10 Store and also for playing against the Xbots?

  17. what? and? that is such a big deal? do you think it is an unbearable problem for you to enjoy those games? You do not have to download another client…

      1. Actually, that’s not stated anywhere. It says just “coming to Steam”. They might (and IMO, should be) native DX12 implementations. So it’s still most likely W10 only.

        1. Microsoft usually ports old games to other Operational Systems, case in point Halo Wars. And now that Windows 7 will have DX12, that may be the case as well

  18. I like xbox live, the gamerscore makes unlocking achievements more “rewarding” than steam achievements.

  19. There are still lots of UWP exclusive games, like Gears 4, Forza, Halo Wars 2, State of Decay 2, etc

If the Directx 12 for windows 7 will make those games compatible, i’ll retract what i said.

  20. Given these are first party titles, like Gears 4 and Forza titles, hopefully we’ll see again a masterful implementation of DX12.

  21. Microsoft just gained a decent amount of good will with me and the people around me. The steam release is really a step in the right direction for MS at this point
