Genigods Lab has announced a new hardcore action RPG that will be using Unreal Engine 5, called Genigods: Nezha. To celebrate this announcement, the devs shared the game’s debut trailer, which you can find below.
In Genigods: Nezha, you play as the Spirit Pearl—the first life created by Nüwa, the Goddess of Life, using earth, water, and fire. This Spirit Pearl is reborn as Nezha. In the game, you’ll dive into famous stories from Chinese creation myths, fight giant gods, and learn powerful combat skills inspired by Chinese-style celestial battles.
The game’s combat system will let you use two different fighting styles. You can switch smoothly between fighting on the ground and fighting in the air. On the ground, you’ll use Nezha’s famous Fire-Tipped Spear to do close-up attacks and parries. In the air, you’ll ride the Wind Fire Wheels to move fast, attack quickly, and pull off cool aerial combos.
The developers also said that the combat is inspired by Bruce Lee’s “Be Water” philosophy. Nezha (the Spirit Pearl) has Divine Water inside him, and players can use this power in battle. You can focus this energy to make Nezha stronger and use special magical items to boost your fighting skills.
The game’s moves are based on the ideas of Jeet Kune Do. For example, you can shape the water into a fast, powerful One-Inch Flash attack that breaks enemy armor, or release it as a wide Dragon’s Kick that hits groups of enemies. This combat system encourages a defensive and reactive style, where you must block and counter at the right moment—just like water adjusting to anything in its way.
Although there is no ETA for when Genigods: Nezha will come out, Genigods Lab has shared its PC requirements. To run it, PC gamers will at least need an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or an AMD Radeon RX 580. The game will also require 100GB of free disk space.
The devs recommend using an Intel Core i7-9700 or AMD Ryzen 5 5500 with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, or an INTEL Arc A750. However, we don’t the graphics settings, resolution, and framerate these PC specs target.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
