Funcom announces Steam Free Weekend for Conan Exiles, starts later today

Funcom has announced that Conan Exiles will be free to play on Steam later today on Steam and until May 12th. This prolonged Steam Free Weekend was made to pay tribute to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s breakthrough role in the anniversary-DLC for Conan Exiles.

Funcom CEO Rui Casais said:

“We thought we’d do something a little different for the anniversary. Although the game is based upon the world created by Robert E. Howard during the 1930s and the subsequent comics, the movies enjoy a huge cult following. Many of the Conan-fans today would probably never have heard of Howard’s work if it weren’t for Schwarzenegger’s breakthrough role as Conan the Barbarian. We therefore thought it would be a good idea to combine the anniversary of our bestselling game with a homage to Schwarzenegger, Thulsa Doom-actor James Earl Jones and their like.”

Casais adds that a lot has happened to the game, which he likes to label as “Minecraft for adults”, since it was launched on May 8th last year. A total of five DLCs have been released even before The Riddle of Steel, as well as a host of updates, bug-fixes and the like.

“This makes me all the more pleased to announce the Steam Free Weekend, so that everyone can see what the game has evolved into for free.”

The Steam Free Weekend starts today at 7PM CET (11AM PST).

  1. Haha. I wouldn’t even waste my eyesight on this trash. Talk about pathetic effort of a game.

This phrase gets tossed around a lot, but it genuinely looks like it belongs in the last decade.

Graphics aren’t everything, but when you seem to be trying to so hard to pride your game on them, and the game has not much else to offer? You may want to get the graphics down. I mean, even EA understands that much.

    1. I wouldn’t say that Conan Exiles graphics are bad, but I don’t see how anyone gives a sht about the game anyway.

  2. Game is amazing, bought it two weeks ago, bought all DLC within another week. Everyone who is crying like a little b*tch in the comments is probably still butthurt over the early access 2017 issues.
