DOOM Eternal Update 1 is bringing optimizations, new event content, bug fixes and more

DOOM Eternal has done very good so far, being one of the best games in this legendary series. DOOM is all about slaying demons, it always was, though DOOM Eternal went a step further. However, even if the game is being considered a major success, there are some players who feel different, and still prefer the previous DOOM of 2016.

According to a recent post by Bethesda, id Software is working on a major update for the title. The update will be adding a host of optimizations, new event content, bug fixes and more. Furthermore, the update will add Empowered Demons, BATTLEMODE enhancements, single-player quality-of-life improvements and an ‘add a friend’ feature via Bethesda.net.

Empowered Demons will spice up the campaign by bringing these demons into the player’s game. When a player is killed in the single-player campaign, the demon that felled them is beefed up and transported to another player’s game to fight again. If the player manages to destroy the demon, he will be rewarded with tons of health and ammo, but also bonus XP to progress in-game events.

The BATTLEMODE will receive several enhancement, like changes to the tutorial walkthrough, poor network connection indicators, Echelon Leveling for players at the maximum level and a Death Report screen to offer players more combat insight mid-match. They are also going to implement Denuvo Anticheat features.

Lastly, id Software is planning to address a few balance concerns and annoyances players have brought to their attenuation. Some of these changes include expanded demon tutorials, dashing vertically in water and adjusting toxic damage while swimming.

wtf does any of these looter shooter mmo stuff have to do with doom? Am i the only one who doesnt like where this is going?

    1. well…the early days it could be improved, the farcry arcade mod tool was much better, then they improved it and made it more varied. With DooM Eternal they could do something similar to farcry arcade, allow the creation of entire maps in sequence like the wads of DooM II, I had a lot of fun with the snap map, who doesn’t like it can be ignored, but if they insert it, a who likes is all gained.

  2. Cool ! Any chance they will release some DLCs as well, for the Single Player story campaign ?

I want them to add few more expansion levels/maps. Because I think “id Software” has teased its “first upcoming campaign DLC” previously with two screenshots over on Twitter.

We have 2 images as shown below. The second setting looks like an offshore oil rig, almost certainly stuffed with demons, who knows ? Any thoughts on this leak ?

    1. They have already confirmed long ago that there would be DLC for single player.
It’s a question of when, not if.

    2. Apparently that’s what’s happening, Single player Expansion is on it’s way. On a side note, I wish they would separate doom 2016 from it’s online component. It’s a pain in the a$$ to have a 10 hour campaign game eat up almost 100 GB’s of Nvme space. As much as i hate to praise Ubisoft they did this for Assassins Creed Black Flag. We were able to detach and download only what we wanted to play. Games should be more like this going forward, because i have no intention of playing Doom MP or any MP for that matter.

      1. +1 for that.

Totally agree with you on the online/MP part of any Game. Why do the DEVs force us to download the content which we as end users don’t need in the first place, is just beyond me !

I too hate downloading extra content which I don’t need. It makes no sense to download the MP or any Co-op/PvP part, if we aren’t going to play it. Eats up the Hard drive space and broadband’s bandwidth as well.

Very sad state of affairs for the Gaming industry in general. But I digress.

        1. Welcome to the Era of 150/200GB sh*t games. The only future i see (at least for me) is retro and maybe till 2015.

        2. Yeah man, it seems the more technologically advanced we get the more lazy we become or not given a crap. The more technologically advanced we get the less features we get. This makes no damn sense to me. The more we become the more we lose. What kinda backwards BS is this. We know that games are downloaded in pieces because of all these damn dlc’s and what not. Its but very hard to seperate all this content. There is no reason for any game to be 150 GBs or even over 40 GBs. There is just no reason and if it is there should be optimal parts to it. Lazy, lazy & disrespectful industry we live in.

      2. BTW, I’ve never played any Multiplayer/Online game in my life. I buy games only for their Single player campaign content.

I’m a Lone Wolf type of “solo” guy. I hate MP games, including the so-called hyped Battle Royale trend ! Yuk..

  3. Tutorials in a Doom game should never be, cutscenes in a Doom game should never be, combat arenas in a Doom game should never be, Cooldowns for gear in a Doom game should never be, Platforms and parkour in a Doom game should never be. Low ammo/Survival horror level of resources in a Doom game should never be.Voiced Doomguy in a Doom game should never be, yeah i hate Doom….3.
    Glory kills was a mistake.

      1. For the first time when watching a gameplay reveal. But when you’re subjected to that loss of controll animation loop over and over again it becomes tedios and monotonous.

    1. Yeah f*k that blade. The cutting animations were never as satisfying as his raw hands. I always loved the thought that the Doom Slayer is a weapon himself. Now he’s a weakling.

    1. What’s also funny is that they scrapped a first iteration of DOOM (2016) which they internally called the “Call of Doom”. And now it seems like they swapped “Call of Doom” for “Doom Raider”.
