Diablo 4 will have cosmetic micro-transactions, plans to support cross-play between all platforms

Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 4 will feature cosmetic microtransactions. While the team does not plan to put any gameplay features behind a paywall, gamers will be able to purchase cosmetic items.

As Blizzard’s Joe Shely, lead designer of Diablo 4, told Quin69:

“So, Diablo 4 will be available as a base game, and as I said we’re going to have expansions. We also will be able to acquire cosmetics in the game through.”

In other news, Blizzard wants to support cross-play between all platforms. The team claimed that there are currently technical details and details to work through with the first parties. Still, and if everything goes well, Diablo 4 will support cross-play between PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

As Diablo 4’s executive producer Allen Adham said:

“We’re very excited about cross-play. There are technical details and details to work through with the first parties, but it’s our goal to get to cross-play.”

    1. Cosmetics are fine, so long as they aren’t affecting gameplay in any way or P2W ala the mobile shitfest.

  1. AHAHAHAHAHAHA THEY EVEN CONFIRMED THE BASE GAME IS UNFINISHED, THEY WANT TO TURN THIS INTO ANOTHER DESTINY/WOW, I CAN’T STOP LAUGHING HOLY SH*T IT’S EVEN WORSE THAN DIABLO 3.

  2. Forced inclusivity? REALLY? Do you even know the lore of the game? Lilith has never been a character in the game despite being a MAJOR character in the story since, well, forever. You people see politic bullshit in EVERYTHING, and it’s gotten to a point in which the simple fact of having a female in the game is seen as “forced feminism”. GET A LIFE, hater.

    1. This is a company that stated the sexuality of their character for no reason other than to virtue signal.

I don’t see why that’s not the case here.

      1. suppose that Lilith was in here because “forced inclusivity” BS. Does it detract from the game in ANY way? From all that we’ve seen so far, it doesn’t. The only forced thing I’ve seen so far is people trying to connect Lilith to forced feminism.

        1. Yes, plus piled up with always online, lack of content on the base game to make way for expansions plus microtransactions makes this a shitpile?

Do you think Apex Legends chearacter all look ugly as sin by mere chance too?

          1. You have no idea what you’re talking about. Always online MAY be a problem to some, but “lack of content on the base game”? Based on what you’re even saying that? We have no clue about the extent of the game’s content, this is just BS. But well, haters are gonna… yeah, you get it

          2. “Based on what you’re even saying that?”
3 classes and the fact that they already confirmed expansions will be a major part of the content.
And always online is a problem, it means no mods and means you don’t actually own your game with Blzzard being able to shut it down and ban anyone and whenever they want for whatever reason.

Enjoy your plate of sh*t Blizzard fan, you’ll eat it no matter what.

          3. As I said, you have absolutely NO CLUE on what you’re talking about:

            “3 classes”

The game will come out with 5 classes, same as Diablo 2 and Diablo 3, that’s been stated multiple times.

“and the fact that they already confirmed expansions will be a major part of the content.”

Expansions will come ON TOP of an already finished game, with content multiple times bigger than the previous game. Did you even check their pannels about D4? Of course not, you’re here to hate, and that’s it.

“And always online is a problem, it means no mods and means you don’t actually own your game with Blzzard being able to shut it down and ban anyone and whenever they want for whatever reason.”

Yes, the game will have no mods unless oficially supported, I’ll give you that, but I assume you play games on Steam too, did you realize that Steam is a DRM in itself? You do not own ANY game you buy at Steam or pretty much any other digital store, that’s not a “Blizzard thing”, it’s just how this industry works nowadays.

          4. “same as Diablo 2 and Diablo 3”
You talk like that’s a good thing, f*king Grim Dawn has multiclasses and I’m supposed to be impressed?

“Expansions will come ON TOP of an already finished game”
I’m sure they will, just like Activision did with Destiny

“did you realize that Steam is a DRM in itself? ”
Not true at all, every developer has that choice
            https://steam.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_DRM-free_games
Not only that but the games that have DRM are still moddable

“You don’t own anything on Steam”
Not true at all if you live in Europe, the moment Steam removes access from your license without breaking their rules they bring down the hammer, the French Government is even suing Valve so that they allow the reselling of licenses.

Not only that, piracy exists unlike your always online sh*t game.

            “You’re here to hate”
No, I’m here to remind everyone that Blizzard and Activision are both sh*t companies and that supporting them means supporting the Chinese government and supporting the complete lack of ownership of your games since Blizzard popularized the garbage that is live services.

You’re the kind of idiot that would follow this company off the streaming cliff headfirst .

          5. “No, I’m here to remind everyone that Blizzard and Activision are both sh*t companies”.

By “whatever the cost”, right? Even plain lying about the game’s content, assuming the worst about things that you didn’t even bother to do some digging and so on. Yes sir, you’re just a hater.

          6. I’m a “hater” for being concerned about the state of the medium.
You truly are a big brained individual.

Say hi to your chinese overlords for me.

          7. Lying and misinforming people to get them aboard your hate crusade makes you equal or even worse than the subject of your speech.

          8. “Lying”
I legitimately though they were merely going to release with only 3 classes.
It wouldn’t be beneath them, and they’ve done worse.

    2. I’m still trying to figure out this forced inclusivity sh*t myself. I’ve seen people bring up the fact that women are in it, that there are black characters now, and some people b*tching about how it’s gone “SJW”.

Women have been characters since the first game, black characters have always existed(paladin and Sorcerer from Diablo 1), and the “SJW” sh*t I still don’t know what the f*ck they’re talking about.

If the forced inclusivity sh*t is about Lilith, then it’s even funnier to me because we see Duriel in the game-play trailer and they’re clearly going to bring back the other three Prime Evils so Diablo will most likely be the final boss.

      1. IIRC wizard was a niggar as well. So nothing new in terms of people of color.

HOWEVER the inclusivity movement is here to stay. Because it’s not neccessarily thought movement, but monetary movement powered by marketing studies.

Many companies don’t care about colors at all. Because they want to sell to whites, blacks, yellows, greens and blues equally.

    3. It’s DSO in a nutshell. The only women in games they are okay with are anime characters with big breasts, anything else is FORCED.

  3. >No offline mode.
Yeah it’s wow now. muh shared world.

    >auto-walk toggle.
    Straight from mobile games.

    >cosmetics MTX
Even mounts have stats, so just like F76 they will shove some boosters in it.

    >Level cap is 40.
    lol

    >Key dungeons with specific affixes.
Straight from PoE’s Map system. yeah they are going for more RnG. clearing “Endgame” content so you might get a key, then that key is s**t so you have to grind more for better key and this will be the whole game.

And this Always online MMO ARPG will have expansions just like wow, each expansion will add new powerful items and will raise the level cap, which means you have to buy it or you will be miles behind everyone who bought it, which means no more PvP and no more reason to play since you are stuck at 40 with outdated gear.

    Grim Dawn 2, save us!

    1. “And this Always online MMO ARPG will have expansions just like wow, each expansion will add new powerful items and will raise the level cap.”

      The good old carrot-on-a-stick design.

“Oh, did you get somewhere in the game? Well allow us to pull all that from under you, and hang a new artificial goal in front of you, while charging you to do so. Keep chasing that carrot, you’ve almost got it! Keep on going!”

You have to have bona fide s**t for brains to find this garbage entertaining.

  4. No offline mode :Check

    Piece off sheit microtransition: check

    Always online too….

Mandatory online mode is the death of this franchise.

    1. Without online mode, you would lose your legendary drop when the power suddenly goes off because you forgot to save the game.

We should thanks to Blizzard for adding the feature. It also allows you to play the same character on different computers.

  5. As someone who has worked in the industry I can say that it’s not simply profitable to make this type of games anymore without some kind of microtransaction.

    1. While I’m fine with cosmetics, I’m also fine with “AAA” style glitzfests going the way of the dodo.

  6. People let’s be honest. Games are going to have MT. These companies make so much money off of them that they aren’t going away.

Sure you may not buy the game because of it but they don’t care. Because “whales” make up for the lost.

  7. So, all the cool looking sh*t that you normally would have gotten through gameplay, will now be on the store. Bravo.

  8. Ok I get it mtx are sh*t and they break the immersion. I’d f*kin hate to run around the map and some clown with an anime sword goes past me.

But those won’t be pay to win mtx, just cosmetic sh*t like PoE has, so while it will break the immersion it won’t be as bad as some koreean MMO.
