Last week, TriArts released a gameplay teaser trailer for its upcoming real-time strategy game, Defcon Zero: Frontlines of Tomorrow. Defcon Zero: Frontlines of Tomorrow is an RTS that is heavily inspired by the Command & Conquer series. So, if you are a fan of it, you should definitely check it out.
Defcon Zero will be a classic/traditional RTS. In other words, you will be able to build your base, gather resources, engage your enemies, and make strategic choices to prevail in combat.
The game is made by a team of RTS veterans, and they want to mix classic RTS gameplay with smart modern features. Battles are slow and thoughtful, and your units can handle different jobs. They also use a weapon priority system, so they attack enemies with the best tool for the situation.
Cover will be very important in this game. Soldiers can survive longer when hiding behind walls, objects, or inside buildings. The world also changes with a day-night cycle, which affects how well units can see, detect enemies, and fight.
The game will be using Unreal Engine 5, so the battlefields will look sharp and detailed. Explosions will light up the map thanks to Lumen, and each fight is easy to see and understand. The maps are built with procedural tools, and the story is told through simple, cinematic cutscenes.
Defcon Zero also features a dynamic day-night cycle. As time passes, the world changes. Daytime feels safer and more active, while nighttime brings danger and new challenges. You’ll need to adjust your strategy depending on the time of day. Every choice you make affects your chances of survival.
There is currently no ETA on when this new RTS will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
