Dauntless is another Epic Games Store exclusive, releasing on May 21st

Phoenix Labs today announced the release date for its flagship game Dauntless. According to the press release, this new monster hunting title will launch on May 21st on the PC via the Epic Games Store. Moreover, there is no mention of bringing it to Steam, so this isn’t a timed-exclusive title on Epic’s launcher.

As the press release reads, Dauntless will be  bringing its cooperative, Behemoth-hunting action to a new worldwide audience, and it already has over 3 million Slayers to date (thanks to its Early Access release).

Dauntless will also launch with numerous new improvements and content updates that recently arrived in the PC Open Beta. The Mastery system offers a new way for Slayers to hone their skills, earn experience, unlock achievements, and acquire new rewards. Each Behemoth and weapon has its own unique Mastery card for players to delve into.

Slayers can also look forward to a massive campaign rework. Everything from questing and crafting to meeting other Slayers and pursuing Behemoths has received massive updates. The rework also introduces a brand new “End of Hunt” screen, providing Slayers with a wealth of information, including progress made in various Mastery cards, quest rewards, Behemoth break parts earned, and more.

  1. Isn’t this game free to play anyway? it already has it’s own launcher like warframe so what’s the point?

    1. Gotta Collect ’em All!

Oh, wait, that’s Pokemon but it’s the same premise and I’m building quite the collection of free games courtesy of #EpicFail!

  2. LMAO ! Who needs this poor excuse of Monster Hunter when we already have Monster Hunter World on PC and Iceborn coming soon ? Honestly last time i played this game you could go back to the 3rd generation of Monster Hunter back on the PSP and Monster Hunter would still offer a more complete gameplay.

    1. I actually hope that MHW and it’s expansion demolish this dev team and their half arsed game.

        1. no one wanted it back then are you kidding? logging in to something to be able to play your games was unheard of and seen as heavily intrusive (and the amount of bugs didnt help). kind of like the always online thing of diablo 3.

    1. Great thinking. So if Ubi releases their own game on their own launcher, same for EA, you ‘re legitimate to steal their games? And I see you using Steam in 07 with a smile on your face, sure.

    2. To be fair Steam wasn’t just a “launcher” in 2007. By 2007 it had quite a bit of functionality as well as exclusive games. All this comic shows is that PC gamers are casuals. Try 2003 as the first panel.

Also the whole “ima pirate games not on steam hurr durr” only works for games that aren’t multiplayer or co op. Pretty much everything exclusive to Uplay or Origin is heavily multiplayer focused, making it entirely pointless to play a torrented version.

  3. They had a Beta, game died during Beta testing phase. they know it won’t sell or it’s a flop, and Epic Money is better than closing the studio i guess.

      1. Believe it or not, i Beta tested this garbage, lol. played like less than an hour and then uninstalled it. poor mans MonsterHunter, nah, poor man’s God Eater, hell it’s even worst.

  4. Welp, I was on the fence about this game. Wanted to wait until it was more polished, feature ready and more complete, but seeing as how Epic has bribed yet another dev team, I’m now to blacklist said devs till the end of time.

GJ devs, you’ve played yourself once more.

  5. This year has easily become the year where it was both the worst for me buying games, and the year where I stopped giving a f*k about a good number of devs, from here on out.

  6. Um…. does it really matter when the games you are tying down, are things I and many others, have never even heard of? Exactly what are EGS and the publisher accomplishing here? Exposing their new product to the smallest possible market?

Business 101 has eluded many in this case I suppose.

  7. Dauntless is horrible, they just wanted some of that epic exclusivity money because they know their game will be dead within a month anyway.
