Croc Legend of the Gobbos feature

Croc Legend of the Gobbos Remaster releases on April 2nd

Argonaut Games has announced that the official remaster for Croc Legend of the Gobbos will be released on April 2nd. To celebrate the announcement, the team has also shared a new trailer that you can find below.

The remaster promises to bring this classic 32-bit game to a new generation of gamers. It will feature enhanced graphics, updated modern control mechanics, and a nostalgic, fun, and authentic gameplay experience.

Additionally, the remaster will include the Crocipedia. This is an extensive and meticulously curated digital museum containing long-lost development assets. As such, you will find game design documents, concept art, animation tests, team member interviews, and much more.

Argonaut Games has also shared its Minimum PC requirements. According to them, PC gamers will at least need a 1.8 GHz Intel Core i5 CPU with 16GB of RAM and a 3D graphics card compatible with DirectX 12. The remaster will also require 35GB of free disk space.

From what I know, the PC version will be available only on GOG (right now, there are no plans for a Steam release). Plus, those who purchase the remaster will also receive its original version for free.

Enjoy the trailer!

  1. Unironically made me soyjack when I heard about this. A genuine blast from the past for me with PS1 being my first console. Really hope they get around to Croc 2 pretty soon after this.

  2. Upon first glance at the video footage I'm not seeing all that much of an improvement over the original PS1 version when played via DuckStation. The improved frame-rate is welcome though.

Yeah I wish they tried to make some proper remakes like the Spyro games, which look great!
I recently finally played them and it's like night and day. I can't enjoy the original games anymore. ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜
But for Croc, you're right, I guess I'll stick to Duckstation (or even the Saturn version)

      1. Indeed. I'd be using the PS1 version due to DuckStation being a far more capable, transformative and mature emulator relative to any Saturn emulator.

That said, I've recently been playing some Saturn games via the Beetle core on RetroArch at native resolution plus CRT Royale shader. It looks magnificent on an OLED panel!

Yeah, Retroarch has become my #1 choice for Saturn.
I sure wish Sega got as much love as Sony/Nintendo!
Duckstation can improve the 3D so much that some games almost look like early PS2 games.๐Ÿ˜…

          CRT Royale is great!
If you want another great shader, try to search on Youtube "Arcade – RetroArch CRT TV Shader/Filter", about the Retro Crisis GDV-NTSC shader. Also a great choice.

Koko-aio shader (on Github) is also great, I use it in Ares emulator for old 2D games.

By the way, if you want one of the best websites to download old games, "myrient erista me"(add the dots๐Ÿ˜‰) is one of the best. Tons of CD games in CHD format, hacks and translated games, etc.
Last week, I downloaded 70+ translated Saturn games.๐Ÿ˜…

          1. RetroArch with ES DE as the front-end on both PC and Android is now my go-to preference for pretty much all retro gaming platforms. Marvellous.

Yep, DuckStation has such a transformative effect on polygon-based PS1 games and, best of all, each aspect is both optional and configurable. Truly impressive. The same guy responsible for it has also been working his magic on PCSX2 which has improved greatly.

Thanks for the shader recommendations. I generally use CRT Royale for home console/computer emulation and the LCD3x one for handheld console emulation.

Nice. I get all my retro game ROMs and CHD files from a well known ROMs megathread.

  3. The kid in me will play this…this game left some very good memories in my childhood. Huge nostalgia hit!
