Legion Studio, a team that consists of former Halo, Call of Duty, Destiny and Doom devs, has announced its new game, Covenant. Covenant is a first-person dark fantasy combat game, and you can find its first gameplay trailer below.
Covenant will feature a Metroidvania / Soulslike world. Players will explore a large interconnected and hand-curated world. Moreover, they will discover fighting stances, spells, weapons, and new gear to equip their characters.
The following gameplay trailer gave me Painkiller and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic vibes. This is a good thing as I really loved those games. However, I am not that fond of the color filter used here. The game can also feel a bit disoriented.
Covenant will be using Unreal Engine 5, and the following gameplay footage is from a pre-alpha build. As such, it does not represent the quality of the final product. Still, it can give you a glimpse at what the devs aim to achieve.
Although there is no ETA on when the game will come out, the devs shared some generic PC requirements. According to them, you’ll at least need a 1st Gen Ryzen or 7th Gen Intel with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660. Legion Studio recommends a 3rd Gen Ryzen or 10th Gen Intel with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA RTX 3060. These are early preliminary PC specs. As such, we’ll get more detailed PC specs closer to the game’s launch.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

Kinda gave me Project Offset vibes.
Anyone else still remember that one?

What a shame that Intel of all companies cancelled that one!
If they really wanted to push their upcoming Battlemage GPUs, then they should have finished it and bundled a free copy of the game with it.
Now that would have been good marketing…
Pepperidge Farm remembers. The tech was mighty impressive for that time.
Developed by only a handful of people no less.
I remember the storm FX and the crumbling pillars(with Physics! a WoW @ the time). Yes I used to look up yearly for like 14years after trailer
LOL this was my first thought too actually. The fantasy setting combined with copious amounts of blur gave me Offset flashbacks. The trailers were revolutionary for its time. What a waste, thanks intel.
YOU GOT VIBES DOG?! WUT WUT!

so its literally elden ring with guns? Or dark souls with guns since its not open world.

Isn't this Elden Ring with guns already?
The main character reminds me of Raziel from Soul Reaver.
cant wait for the remaster.
Too many ching chong visual effects. It's like they're going for dark vibes but developers are too gay for that.
Better have a killing plot, cause the gameplay looks generic and dull.
That looked Dope!, but are they using Upscaling in the trailer…. weird. Not even Devs can run UE5 native…
Doom: Even Darker Ages
…
Looking better than Witchfire
I don't like aesthetics in modern games.😖
They almost always go full horror…
Everything looks so freaky and disturbing.
Enemies are so weird-looking and distorted and have such unrealistic movement patterns that you just can't believe it.
My only problem with that is that when the design looks too weird(not just enemies, but in some games, it's the environment too), it creates some kind of disconnection with the world and lore. It's not as engaging.
Even the monsters in Blade of Darkness or Dark Messiah of Might and Magic looked more "normal", and not like they came out of an AI nightmare.
It felt like they could be "real", and were the results of an alternate but believable evolution.
