Cities: Skylines has sold 3.5 million copies, will receive a new free DLC

Paradox Interactive today announced that Cities: Skylines, a game that released two years ago on March 10th 2015, has now sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide. Cities: Skylines has reached this milestone as of its second anniversary, including copies sold across all retailers for all platforms.

To commemorate this achievement, Paradox and Colossal Order will be adding a free set of three new in-game buildings inspired by Chinese architecture in a promotion occurring soon.

Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive, said:

“From the first day Cities: Skylines was released, it’s been breaking records. The game had our biggest launch in history at the time, selling 250.000 copies in its first 24 hours, and the community has only gotten bigger and more devoted over the last two years. Cities: Skylines perfectly showcases the kind of experiences we’re proud to support at Paradox: a game that people are just as excited to play now as they were two years ago. Happy birthday to Cities: Skylines, congratulations to Colossal Order, and my sincere thanks to all our players. Please follow me on Chirper.”

Mariina Hallikainen, CEO of Colossal Order, added:

“It’s fair to say that Cities: Skylines has changed all of our lives at Colossal Order. This is a game we had all been working on and dreaming about creating for years. Seeing how many people have rallied around it, and seeing the incredible community sharing their cities and mods has been so rewarding and inspiring. On behalf of our entire team, thank you so much to all of our players for your ongoing support!”

Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order will be releasing a new in-game building pack as a free DLC to all players of Cities: Skylines. The pack, titled “Pearls from the East,” will bring a splash of style to mayor-players’ cities with three new buildings: a Panda Zoo, a Chinese Temple, and the Shanghai Pearl Tower, and will be available soon.

  1. This is a great game if anyone is into Simcity 2000 and want a real successor to that game City skylines is the way to go.

    1. I agree 100% with you but the real successor for SimCity 2000 was SimCity 3000…
Alone the soundtrack is a masterpiece in itself. 3000 also has a really big modding community. So one should say if you played 3000 and liked it then City Skylines is the perfect game for you.

    1. So true one of the first PC games i played was Simcity 2000 played loved it so much that and age of empires 1 it convinced me that i’m more into those games then a lot of console games.

Also kind of liked sims and sims 2. But that is a different type of game, i’m lame though and never cheat and i enjoy to build my self up from nothing.
