Capcom has sold more units on PC in the first half of FY25 than on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox combined

Capcom has shared its sales for the first half of FY25, and it appears that the big winner here was the PC platform. According to the official graph, Capcom has sold more units on PC than on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.

To be more precise, Capcom has sold 20,025M units so far this fiscal year. From those sales, 54% of them were on PC, whereas 40% were on consoles. Again, the console percentage includes all main three consoles.

Compared to the previous fiscal year, PC digital sales have grown from 48% to 54%. This right here shows how profitable the PC platform actually is for the Japanese company.

A look at the SteamDB graphs can give us an insight as to why Capcom is doing so well on PC. Resident Evil 4 Remake was a huge success, as was Dragon’s Dogma 2. Despite its performance issues, DD2 had 228K concurrent players at launch. That’s huge.

Things will most likely be even better for Capcom in 2025. We know that Monster Hunter is huge on PC/Steam. And, in February 2025, the team will release Monster Hunter Wilds. Monster Hunter World had a peak of 334K concurrent players. So, I won’t be surprised if Monster Hunter Wilds hits half a million concurrent players.

This may also explain why Capcom tried to somehow fix the performance issues on PC. It could also explain why it added support for DLSS 3 Frame Generation. The more money Capcom makes from the PC, the more it will support it. It’s as simple as that.

The Open Beta phase for MHW will begin on October 31st. And, like a lot of PC gamers, we can’t wait to get our hands on it.

Stay tuned for more!

      1. Indeed. They still wait that this is what stops piracy. If only, it stops legitimate users from buying but whatever.

        1. well it's stops me from pirating, but it doesn't make me want to spend 60 dollars on theirs games either. I'll wait until they go on sale for around 5 or 10 dollars instead.

  1. Reason : Mods and brilliant optimization. Capcom since shifting its workforce back to Japan is a dedicated PC company. They know which platform will sell and people enjoy mods. Still I don't know, why Dmc5 SE isn't on PC and why denuvo still there in RE4 and DD2. It works in mysterious ways, but the west is to blame for forcing their trash on Japanese games otherwise they can't be released in that country

    1. Those factors were always there, so this shift is about something else.
Probably consoles losing appeal and market due to having much fewer exclusives, while PS5Pro is going stup1d expensive, xbox is dying, and the Switch is a million years old.

      1. That too. I think people are going to prefer PC than consoles in future. Much better choice for past and future games

    3. Pc version of Red Dead is out! I played one hour!
So far excellent performance! Max out 60 fps on my 1060 3gb!
It's almost odd to play a functional pc version! I hope your having fun!
      Enjoy the redemption! : )

        1. That's not a solid argument. If you like and appreciate something time is irrelevant. You will always like that thing.
The first Red Dead is special for me and him and many others.

      1. You won't believe! I was busy with it since day one and oh man I'm living it. It's so satisfying to play after having played witcher 3. Every game mechanic just clicks. It's like a dream on PC. I'm having absolute blast with it.
And yeah, I IMPLORES Now too, Hahaaaa

        1. "You implore me? You implore me?!?? … I implores you to go back and tell them to send someone just a little bit more impressive next time."
          : ))
Man I'm so happy for you and the others for the fact that you are now able to play the ultimate edition of the game! I'm just shocked how the game still manages to drag me back. I thought I'm only going to test the game just to see how the pc port was handled but now I want to finish the game all over again. It's so alive and it's still holding up, the draw distance is absolutely insane and the physics, animations and AI are still better then most PS5/Xbox Series/Pc current games. The art design is compensating for the rest and the music is a timeless masterpiece. All I want now is a first person mod and a way to play online.

          1. Completely forgot about mods my friend. Oh I’m imagining GTA level stuff. Dutch replacing Bonnie would be hilarious lol

    4. Nope, Capcom is responsible for eating the woke sh*t with a spoon. They can release whatever they want, they chose to compromise their integrity to chase those scores, literally no one else is to blame.

  2. Glad that a non woke company is going great, i hope CAPCOM leadership recognize that it's in their best interest to avoid all the nonsense the west is doing

    1. Are you retardid ? Capcom is literally THE BIGGEST DIE ESG supporters from Japan that hires activists not just consulting groups more than any Japanese gaming company , Capcom since 2020 hired their own consulting group and you out here saying non woke, i can't stand the sheer ignorance in this comment

    2. Capcom is pc and submissive to "modern sensibities". They are one game away from wokefying. The trailer for that new monster hunter game for example has only women in it. Also keep in mind the internal training sliders leak that revealed they intend to follow that path. Your best bet is to cut ties with them before imminent disappointment. It sucks, but that's what it is. As japan's premier software house with global influence it was only a matter of time anyway.

    1. Do you do anything on this site but simp for Gabe Newell? A multibillionaire with 7 yachts doesn't need you simping for him.

I mean, do you even play games? Literally all you do is spam about Steam Deck and Linux non-stop. I have not even once seen you write about games, not once.

You're worse than when John spams about Unreal Engine 5. Shut up.

      1. we had countless of denuvo protected games failing, just look one article up to see yet another example. We also had tons of unprotected games selling well. So ironically denuvo and woke dei have proven that stopping piracy does not improve sales. The game has to be good.

      2. This is what it looks like to be braindead people.

Are Cyberpunk sales tiny and pathetic because it was DRM-free? No it sold roughly the same as MHW which had no controversies, and only positive word of mouth of zealous fanboys.

Witcher 3 has insane 50 million sales in total, most of which are on PC.

The only people thinking piracy affects sales in major ways are braindead French and Japanese AAA retards, and their fanboys like you.

    1. We'll it sells well with Denuvo in it. So why would they do anything different. The gamers are always to be blamed for why these things happens to them. PC gamers sends a clear message that they don't mind Denuvo.

  3. So, if you read the last 2 columns of both slides…

while they've been growing, they expect to TRIPLE THEIR INCOME for the first half of 2025 (397>1250) by having a 2.5X in units sold (20025>50000(25M>50M)), and yet they mark it as 8.9% increase in units sold? wwwtttfff are those expectations and that % math???

    1. Well, I don't know if those are realistic expecatations. That being said MH is their biggest franchise and MH:World is their biggest title ever, so seeing how Wilds is the direct sequel who knows.

  4. the only franchises they got i care about is resident evil, but not the new ones, the old ones, i dont like how they turned them into linear action games, and dmc.

  5. Yesterday:
Instead of investing resources into releasing Halo 5 on PC, Microsoft decided to pull the plug

    Today:
Capcom sold more units on PC than on Switch, PlayStation and Xbox combined
