Similarly to Resident Evil 2 Remake, Capcom has removed the Denuvo anti-tamper tech from Devil May Cry 5. As such, PC gamers who have boycotted the game – due to Denuvo – can go ahead and purchase it now.
Funny thing is that pirates had access to a Denuvo-free version of the game since March 2019. Steam owners could also download and use a Denuvo-free executable version, though Capcom disabled this after a while.
Devil May Cry 5 was one of the most optimized PC games of 2019. Still, Denuvo had a negative impact on the game’s performance. So yeah, we are kind of happy that Capcom has decided to completely removed it.
As always, Steam will download the game’s latest update the next time you launch its client.
Here is hoping that Ubisoft will eventually follow Capcom’s example, and remove Denuvo from its latest Assassin’s Creed games and Watch_Dogs!

You forgot to add ‘controversial’ before every Denuvo.
Personally, I would add ‘sh*t’ before every Denuvo.
I doubt that Ubisoft will follow. Even when their games are already cracked
It is not just Ubisoft. Gearbox is just as guilty and as a result single player mode in Battleborne will stop working when the game goes offline next year
have they removed it from far cry primal? No.
I’d really appreciate if they did the same for Monster Hunter World
Especially when strength of that game lies in online.
The way Capcom is handling this DRM suggests that they only remove it when they feel that the game has started to lose relevancy (like when they’re about to release a sequel), but MHW is still going strong in sales and presence, right?
which is why rage 2 dropped it after release.
This one had a very good performance, even with DENUVO, so I really don’t care about this now.
Sure, but it’s always nicer to have much shorter load times on future playthroughs and to know that Denuvo won’t break the game in the future like DRM has done for GTA IV and Tron Evolution
Yeah, you’re right about that.
i will stole the favorite quote from our windowlicker bot
EXCELLENT !
Thats how it should be
You want to protect your games for initial sale period ok but remove the damn thing so games will be accessible when the drm servers will eventually go down
“Here is hoping that Ubisoft will eventually follow Capcom’s example, and remove Denuvo from its latest Assassin’s Creed games and Watch_Dogs!”
.
John, please…you know thats impossible. Stop hoping anything good from Ubisoft…
Right in time for me to buy it. Kudos to CAPCOM. I know there is a lot of hate for DENUVO, as should be, but at least they removed it after some time. Better late, than never.
yeah capdcom did that from re2 and re7, i wish ubisoft does it as well, their games run like trash with denuvo and vprotect.
Removed denuvo? That crossed the line, removing from my wishlist too then..
Dragon Quest 11, Code Vein, Tekken 7, Soul Calibur 6, and Dragonball FighterZ Denuvo removal wouldn’t hurt. Square-Enix/Bandai Namco.
