AMD has just announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be the first game to support AMD FSR Redstone. According to the red team, thanks to AMD FSR Redstone, owners of AMD Radeon RX 9000 Series GPUs will be able to enjoy crystal-clear reflections.
From the looks of it, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will support ray-traced reflections. As such, the devs will take advantage of AMD FSR Redstone to offer a better image quality on AMD GPUs. This will be done via ML Ray Regeneration.
The good news for NVIDIA users is that the game will also support DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Gen. However, we don’t know whether there will be support for NVIDIA DLSS 4 Ray Reconstruction.
For those who did not know, AMD FSR Redstone brings support for Neural Radiance Caching, Machine Learning Ray Regeneration, and Machine Learning Frame Generation.
Neural Radiance Cache (NRC) is a smart shader that uses neural networks to make indirect lighting look better and run faster. With NRC, fully ray-traced lighting will look more realistic and will be more responsive. This should make everything look smoother and more natural.
On the other hand, Machine Learning Ray Regeneration will be similar to what DLSS 4 already has. By using it, FSR Redstone will be able to provide a crisper ray-traced image. Plus, there won’t be big delays between different lighting changes. And finally, Machine Learning Frame Generation will aim to improve the quality of AMD FSR Frame Gen.
In case I didn’t make this clear, COD: Black Ops 7 will only have support for AMD FSR Redstone ML Ray Regeneration. So, it will partially support AMD FSR Redstone. There won’t be full support for it. Nevertheless, this is the first game that will support it.
All in all, this is great news for all AMD RDNA 4 GPU owners. So, I’m curious to see how AMD FSR Redstone fairs against NVIDIA DLSS 4. And yes, I’ll be sure to compare them once the game becomes available.
Stay tuned for more!
Available on AMD Radeon™ RX 9000 Series graphics cards, FSR ‘Redstone’ Ray Regeneration goes live tomorrow in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
