Baldur's Gate 2 Rebirth feature

Baldur’s Gate II: Rebirth is a new total conversion mod for BG2: EE

The Baldur’s Gate II: Rebirth modding team has released a teaser trailer for its upcoming mod. Baldur’s Gate II: Rebirth is a complete Total Conversion mod for Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition. It introduces an original storyline, characters, and world that are built from the ground up.

The mod will have five chapters to play. Suzail will be imagined in all its glory, consisting of 9 areas along with all important landmarks, like the Royal Palace Grounds, the War Wizard Citadel, Docks, Slums, Sewers, etc. You can also expect 5 major cities or regional hubs. These will be Dhedluk, Waymoot, Immersea, Eveningstar and Wheloon.

Baldur’s Gate 2: Rebirth will have a fully traversable King’s Forest, packed with enemy camps, ruins, and forgotten places of power. It will also come with a large number of much smaller towns. Some of them are Tyrluk, Collinwood, Crownpost, Knightswood, Yeoman’s Bridge, Espar, Mouth of Gargoyles, and Minroe. There will be lots of side quests and brand new NPCs. Moreover, it will offer endless hours of exploration across Cormyr’s untamed countryside.

There is currently no ETA on when Baldur’s Gate 2: Rebirth will come out. According to its official website, the mod is nearing completion. The modding team has created four of the five chapters. It has created most of the new areas, as well as all minor side quests. So far, the team has not finished its medium and large quests. So, it might take a while until we get our hands on it.

Do note that this won’t be a standalone mod. In other words, it will require a copy of Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition. I’m mentioning this because some may get confused with the fact that it’s a total conversion mod. A total conversion mod is a mod that completely changes the game it’s based on. These mods still require a copy of their games to be installed, otherwise they cannot run. A standalone mod is a mod that does not require the base game.

Overall, this seems to be a must-have mod for all Baldur’s Gate 2 fans. This feels more like an expansion than a simple mod. So, I’m certain that a lot of BG2 players will be eager to play it.

As I said, there isn’t an exact date for when it will be released. As soon as it does, I’ll be sure to let you know. Until then, you can watch its official teaser trailer.
