AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 23.5.1 Driver released, improving performance by up to 18% in The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

AMD has released a new driver for its graphics cards. According to the release notes, the AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 23.5.1 Driver packs performance improvements for AMD’s latest GPUs in The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.

Going into more details, owners of the AMD RX 6000 series can expect a performance increase of up to 12% in 4K. On the other hand, owners of the AMD RX 7900 series can expect a performance boost of up to 18%.

This new driver also packs some fixes for other games. For instance, it reduces the video memory usage during shader compilation time when first launching The Last of Us Part I. It also resolves a crash issue in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on some AMD Graphics Products.

As always, you can download this new driver from AMD’s official website. Below you can also find its complete changelog.

  1. AMD software is trash (hardware too, except for some lucky CPU generations. Lucky meaning, that Intel f*cking up is only time when AMD is able to take over)

      1. Oh come on now. AMD’s GPUs are trash only being purchased by the ignorant fool. E.g. FSR v DLSS where FSR having a quality mode is simply a lie, an awful tool that degrades image quality while DLSS increases it. Then of course there is RT whee AMD’s latest and greatese 7900XTX can’t even beat a 4.5 year old 2080Ti in CP2077. And then of course the latest feature for the FPS chaser, frame generation, where AMD have yet to go and only appear to plan on copying Nvidia. I’m guessing FSR3 is going to be another level of garbage.

Don’t be a fanboy. Don’t reward garbage with your money. Don’t buy AMD dGPUs. At least until the bring out serious PC hardware.

        1. Every time one of you Nvidia fan boys makes a post it’s always about FSR vs DLSS. What’s the matter? Your Nvidia hardware can’t run games without DLSS or it’s fake frames? Bunch of bitter babies. 🙂

          1. Stop with the moronic BS. If AMD made a good GPU I’d have AMD’s GPU. If Intel made a good GPU I’d have Intel’s GPU. If Kim Jung Un made a good GPU I’d have Kim Jung Un’s GPU. I have a Nvidia GPU. You a**holes defending AMD’s garbage just ecourage AMD to make more garbage. Guess who’s looking like the fanboy…

    1. First party AMD is probably better for casual users with software because relive doesn’t require geforce experience live idiocy and their GUI is easy to navigate.

Nvidia is nicer for tinkerers because you can use DLSS Tweaks in DLSS games for DLAA, use DLSS Swapper to put new DLSS in old games and use Nvidia Profile Inspector to enable ReBAR on games the driver hasn’t ok’d it on yet due to 3000 series having laughable VRAM pools.

You are actually dumb for buying Nvidia until you get to the 4070. Used 6600’s, 6700’s and 6800’s is what I would buy. After that the older AMD cards use too much power and you need to undervolt them which casual users will not have fun doing.

7900’s can be interesting IF you have a 4k monitor/TV. On 1440p you go Nvidia due to DLAA. It’s why the 7800 people are begging for doesn’t even matter. 1440p temporal AA native looks like trash.
