Hi-Rez Studios is offering for free the following games:

- Tribes 2
- Tribes: Aerial Assault
- Tribes Vengeance
- Tribes Ascend
Of course the big question is whether the userbase of the aforementioned games is actually active, otherwise what’s the point of getting them, right?

I had a lot of fun with Tribes: Ascend, but there’s not much point playing it now that they’ve abandoned support for years.
I hear Tribes 2 is still populated somewhat.

Starsiege: Tribes (1998) and Tribes 2 (2001) were the best. And both ahead of their time, especially 2, not so much in raw gameplay (although it had more features than the first, it was “slower”), but having in-game homepages for the teams, in-game e-mail systems and such. It was great. 🙂
Vengeance had an interesting single player story, which the previous ones lacked but was killed right after its birth by Vivendi Universal, who apart from the first international support patch, stopped support, canceling the first (and ready !!) bug fix, etc. patch, effectively killing the series.
Hi-Rez Studios picked it up, made Ascend which is a …mixed Tribes 2, but they didn’t care much about the balance and after they started Smite they went “Meh, that’s all she wrote” about it and that’s that.
I don’t remember about Tribes 1’s fan servers, but Tribes 2 has Tribesnext (http://tribesnext.com/), haven’t checked it in years though, to see how many people play it anymore.

It could be just a moment of stupidity, but I wanted to play some tribes vengeance for ole times sake. Where in the heck do you find the cd key?…some of the titles when expanded upon give it to you. Ven does not.
