Monster Hunter Wilds Mod fixes stutters caused by the anti-tamper tech

Praydog, the man behind some amazing VR mods, has released a new version of the REFramework for Monster Hunter Wilds. This latest version fixes the stutters that are caused in the game by its anti-tamper tech.

For those unaware, Monster Hunter Wilds suffers from some stutters. And, according to Praydog, these stutters are caused by its anti-tamper tech.

To prove his point, Praydog shared the following screenshot. In this image we get to see the smooth frametimes that are possible when using REFramework.

My guess is that these stutters are NOT due to Denuvo. These are due to Capcom’s very own anti-tamper tech. In other words, they appear to be similar to those we saw in Resident Evil Village.

Alongside the stutters, this latest version of REFramework resolves some crashes. Again, those crashes were caused by the anti-tamper tech. Talk about a clusterf’ck.

I want to make it crystal clear that Praydog knows his stuff. This isn’t an unknown modder. So, when he says that the anti-tamper tech causes these stutters, I’m 100% certain he knows what he’s talking about. And no, this isn’t a placebo mod. This actually fixes those stutters.

You can download the mod from this link. To install, simply extract dinput8.dll from the zip file into your Monster Hunter Wilds game install folder.

It’s really funny how a modder was able to fix this issue before the devs themselves. It’s funny and embarrassing at the same time. And this is why we love modders.

I fully expect Capcom to fix these stutters via a new update now that the modder shamed them. After all, that’s exactly what also happened with RE: Village.

Monster Hunter Wilds has sold like crazy on PC. Sadly, though, it has major performance and optimization issues. And, realistically, I don’t expect Capcom to bring any major improvements. At 1080p/Ultra Settings/No RT, you’ll need a high-end GPU to get over 60FPS at all times. The NVIDIA RTX 3080 and the AMD Radeon RX 6900XT are unable to do so.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. DRM or any sort of anti-tamper is the putrid cancer and a growing tumor that killing the PC gaming industry and anyone who defends it are the degenerates who belong on a cross.

  2. I've got a better mod to fix this stuff. Remove the cancerous DRM, and stop treating everyone like they're criminals, when game companies are the real criminals.

    1. I'm completely with you on this, but on the other side you have people in this site saying that they never pay for a game unless it's online.

Then you wonder why companies make online only and knee deep in DRM games. Rtarded people will be rtarded people, doesn't matter if they are executives or players.

  3. It'snot the anti tamper tech at all, it's the borked implementation of DirectStorage. Updating the dll files to the newest version has a small effect but they haven't implemented it correctly as it's showing that is being done by the cpu in the game options, when it should be done by the gpu.

    1. Anti tamper made by capcom are weird , like RE VIII back then , they tied their check with event when enemy being hit… We dont know where they tied it with MH Wilds yet so every potential cause is a possibility including direct storage could be one of the factor (based on analysis by DF, right).
I wonder if delete the dll or replace it could fixed it

    2. Updating DirectStorage won't do anything, cause there haven't been any major updates since version 1.2.0, the only thing you facing is placebo.

I can also guarantee the game performance issues has nothing to do with DirectStorage, is in fact the hundreds of Anti-Tamper calls.

Those same calls will crash your game if it detects something it doesn't like (with a lot of false positives), so the fix will help with performance and random crashes.

    3. I love how direct storage has been trash in every single game that has it, and they are all improved by its removal. Forbidden West is the only one that isn't negativey impact afaik.

    1. It's not Denuvo but we absolutely need a boycott because Denuvo is a cancer regardless.

Also, Ubisoft pos Connect, and every other third party launcher, fck all of them.

  4. more misinformation to ragebait clicks from the anti denuvo child groomer cohort. oh boy here we go. 2014 never ends. Denuvo doesn't affect performance and lives rent free in these child groomers heads

    1. Please elaborate further on the connection your schizophrenia made between hating denuvo, an objectively disgusting piece of software whose primary purpose is to inconvenience legitimate customers, and child grooming.

    2. It take a special type of denseness to keep maintaining that lie when proven wrong at EVERY turn when the same version been accidentally leaked without the protection and benched vs the protected version – EVERY time.

What less "enlightened" and biased individuals love to compare is spoofed protections vs protected games… where in both cases the decryption (that throws great cpu features like branch prediction, memory prefetchers out the window while also causing cache bloat… you know… good performance enhancing hw features that is a great reason why the jit-decryption/virtual machine drm schemes ALWAYS hurts the performance)

  5. I'm not gay, I don't play games like this.
Anyone who pays for this trash deserves everything they get and more.

    1. It is indeed a supremely homosexual game. Troglodytes who supported horrendously optimized titles should be publicly shamed on every occasion, so basically everyone who bought this pos, Jedi Survivor, Dead Space, etc etc.

    1. Same team of incompetent malicious hacks who value their bottom line infinitely more than the experience their customers have.

  6. You know the true state of the dev's when a modder does a better job optimizing it without access to the games own source code…. shame on most of today devs and suits who push for trashier games to save a buck!

  7. Why the hell they put multiple DRMs! We all know that denuvo is only thing that is actually protecting game!
