The PC version of GTA 4 was one of the worst PC ports we’ve ever seen, which is a shame because the game itself is great. Instead of fixing it, Rockstar simply abandoned it. Thankfully, the modding community took it upon themselves to address most of its visual and performance issues, effectively remastering it for PC. Yes, GTA 4 Remaster is now a reality thanks to the Fusion Fix Mod. And the best thing? It’s completely free on PC.
Fusion Fix is a comprehensive open-source mod that aims to fix a wide range of technical issues, bugs, and limitations in the game that were left unaddressed in official updates. Right now, this is THE best mod for GTA 4. So, let’s take a closer look at it.
Let’s start with the most crucial features. Fusion Fix brings faster load times and smoother cutscenes at higher frame rates. It reworks the mouse input and adds support for Vulkan (DXVK). As I’ve showcased, DXVK can completely fix all the stutters of GTA 4. As such, you will now be able to fully enjoy GTA 4 on PC.
The mod adds sliders for things like FOV, depth-of-field, and motion blur. It also brings some handy gameplay tweaks. For example, there’s an always-run toggle, vehicle indicators, and smoother sniper controls. You also get a see-through map and cheat codes for Niko’s gloves and haircut. On top of that, you can now move while aiming through sniper scopes.
And that’s not all. Fusion Fix adds Sun Shafts and Volumetric Fog for better atmosphere. It also increases the draw distance and fixes the annoying z-fighting issues from the PC version. The mod improves lighting by extending how far the sun reaches and adds Project 2DFX for denser, more realistic city lights in the distance. Furthermore, rain visibility is restored, and the water looks better. The mod also fixes model fading, reworks shadows, and improves anti-aliasing. You’ll also see soft particles, shinier vehicle reflections, working mirror reflections, and glowing building lights at night.
Now, I won’t list every single fix and tweak this mod includes. Suffice it to say, this is the best mod for Grand Theft Auto 4. By using it, you’ll essentially get the remaster treatment on PC. If you plan to replay the game, I strongly recommend doing so with this mod. You can download it from this link. At the end of the article, you’ll also find its official trailer. So, be sure to watch it.
Have fun!

Whoa, very nice list of improvements!
I'd also need sort of less PS3-like color filters, and less jello driving. Care to mention anything about those?
https://www.nexusmods.com/gta4/mods/396 and https://www.nexusmods.com/gta4/mods/714 should help a lot.
Fantastic!! Thank you sir!!
I downloaded this mod, but I can't select a resolution higher than 1280×960. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution? I tried switching to vulcan renderer, but it didnt helped.

You may need to install the 4GB VRAM limit fix. See PC Gaming Wiki for the link.
Mine is fine at 4k have you tried changing the Api im running vulcan backend.
Navigate to the GTA IV install directory, specifically where "GTAIV.exe" is located
If it doesnt already exist, create the file "commandline.txt"
Add commands to the text file, save and close
-height 1080
-width 1920
Next Use -availablevidmem 3072.0 command line argument using steam property on GTA IV
Creating a command line didn't work, but I finally managed to run the game at 4K by adding these parameters to the Steam launch options.
-norestrictions -width 3840 -height 2160
