Remember GTA Vice City Nextgen Edition? Well, good news everyone as this incredible project has finally been released. Yep, you can go ahead, download, and play Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Nextgen Edition right now. And the best part? It no longer requires the original game.
For those unaware, GTA Vice City Nextgen Edition brings all the missions, the whole map, and content from the original game to the RAGE Engine. This is an incredible project that all Vice City fans will appreciate.
GTA Vice City Nextgen Edition has an improved version of the city – and weapons – from the Definitive Edition. All the cars from the Xbox version of the original game will be present here. Additionally, all the models of all characters and peds will be from the Xbox version. From what we know, there are no plans to increase their polygon count. However, all 3D characters will have better textures.
All the original radio stations will also be present in this unofficial remaster. And although the project will have the cut-scenes and the style of the original game, it will also pack better particle effects and some lighting improvements.
As said, GTA Vice City Nextgen Edition started as a mod. However, it’s now available as a standalone free project. All you have to do is download and play it. The project does no longer require the original Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
As the modding team behind it stated:
“Initially, the modification was planned to require the original game in order to show respect to the publisher. However, over the past two days, we have completely rebuilt the project, and it is now available as a standalone “installation-ready package”. Just download, install, and play. There are no issues with version compatibility since the mod is now fully autonomous.”
Here’s a TLDR of what happened. Two days before the release of GTA Vice City Nextgen Edition, Take-Two Interactive deleted the YouTube channel of the modding team. As Revolution Team claimed, Take-Two did this without any warning or attempt to contact them. So, from the looks of it, the team felt betrayed by this move. As such, it decided to give the middle finger to Take-Two, create a new YT channel, and release the mod as a standalone project.

Take-Two will do its best to take down the video and the download link. Thus, I highly recommend downloading it while you still can. From what I’ve seen, this is one of the best remasters of Vice City. So, make sure to try it.
It’s a shame how Take-Two and Rockstar treat its modding community. Just a few days ago, Rockstar also shut down the GTA 4 Mod for GTA 5. And let’s not forget all the other fan remasters/mods they have taken down.

gta iv is a terrible, one of the most boring games i ever played. Why would i want to play vice city with gta iv clunky combat and driving mechanics? No thanks.
GTA IV is more unique … yes its PC port was horrible but if you look past that … it's pretty interesting.
GTA IV has much more detailed and minute simulation(s) than GTA V.
I still like it to this day.

if you like the physics, then this mod is gta v with those physics, i dont, gta vice city is more unique than another new york game, get over yourself. its gta 3 but slow and boring.
The PC port of GTA4 was not as bad as people make it out to be.
I played GTA4 for the first time on PS3. The game was running at 18-26fps on my PS3 and I could barely play it. The image quality was also really bad. The game ran at sub 720p and used a fake DOF filter that blurred everything in the distance.
The PC version was definitely more playable. On my PC (Q6600, 8800Ultra) I had around 45 fps at 1680×1050 with high settings and 40% distance sliders. Back then anything above 30fps was considered playable, so the game was very playable. The PS3 version was running at low PC equivalent settings, so the game on my PC not only run much better, but also looked a lot better.
GTA4 was extremely demanding on PC, but only at maximum settings. For some strange reason, gamers always turn all the settings to max and then cry when they see a slideshow.
In GTA5, Rockstar hid the distance sliders in the advanced settings tab, so most people played on the default settings and thought the game was so much better optimised. Sure, GTA5 had slightly better multithreading support, but as soon as you enabled advanced settings, the game wrecked even high-end PCs.
BASED opinion.
I played it console too out of interest and yes, the blurry 640p graphics which sometimes was only slightly better than VCS on PS2.
The amount of bugs and glitches, radio bugs that were FIXED in PC version.
The sheer fact that the PC version lets you turn off the blurry pastel "Definition" filter made it automatically superior.
45fps is a shxt standard to hold for desktop PC gaming, sorry.
Since we've had like 15+ years of hardware advancements to brute force it, now the port is fine. Especially so when paired with the DXVK wrapper.
God, I always thought I was the only one, as it seems that everybody considers GTA IV to be sacred.
I was extremely disappointed by the driving mechanics, and played it only 1 hour, I think. 🤣

The missions were boring and so were the characters, in the end you dont even take out the main villain you are after this whole time. Some other dude does in the dlc. Terrible story, wtf was the point?
The combat sucked, few weapons, all of them weak so enemies are bulletspongy, you shoot them with the pistol and they keep falling down and ragdoll around, it looked stupid. The cover system is terrible and clunky, you had to press the aim button for nico to pop up his head and hold down the fire button to get out of cover and start shooting, this game came out years after gears of war. Then you got the driving, what is the point of racing when all cars dont turn and dont brake? I did not do any of the "AM ALPHA" dude after the mandatory ones, the racing just wasnt fun.
Is a better game than V, i would argue V is a downgrade in almost every way.

Hmmm i think the story of IV takes itself way too seriously considering the satiric tone of the franchise (the element is still there but not on the main story but on the side content) and V went way too the other extreme to the point that it feels like a parody of itself.
The combat i can agree but is way too simplistic and the physics are a serious downgrade. GTA V is probably the most normie game so far in the series.
Granted, my favorite GTA game is Vice City so of course i'm partial to this mod which is pretty good considering is free while Rockstar is asking 60 bucks for that UE slop that is Definitive only in name.
