In his latest Reddit AMA, Sean Murray confirmed that the PC version of No Man’s Sky will feature a FOV slider. In addition, Murray has confirmed that there will be support for 21:9 monitors.
As Murray said when asked about a FOV slider in No Man’s Sky:
“Innes and Charlie are here working on it right now, but every time someone asks we take away one degree of field of view.”
Murray has also shared an image from the game’s graphics options, showing the FOV slider. PC gamers will be able to adjust both the flight and the on-foot field of view.
A few days ago, Murray claimed that he’s been working to add 21:9 monitor support to No Man’s Sky.
I'm here tonight adding support for 21:9 monitors. We don't even have one. I've stuck some cardboard to the side of mine ¯_(シ)_/¯

No Man’s Sky releases on the PC on August 12th!

Four days, four more days…
Fire!
I’ll take you to burn!
That makes absolutely no sense (image).
Wtf?
Yep this industry is ruled by paranoids.
Paranoia, & a general air of “we like it this way, because it means we get to explain ourselves less when we make money-oriented decisions.”
But yeah, “you can’t talk about x platform specifically” really takes things to a whole new level of paranoia, agreed.
Bloody marketing dept plus the suits that signs the checks. One convincing the other that the we are all dumb dumbz. And since they are the ones with the money (because of the legit dumb dumbz), both us and devs are in a bad situation.
Business wise makes sense and helps your game, so good for devs, but then the consumer gets deceived and on the shadow so it is bad for both, or go full indie and you mantain your ideals and it is good for the consumer, but then your business might suffer, you can tone down the scope of the project then it can be bad for everyone and the medium.
It’s hard, game development must be a nightmare. And nowadays dealing with people on internet, gosh…
Godamnmit I’ve promised to myself not to do this anymore. -.-
YESSSSSSSSSSSS!! Glorious FOV slider master race! (it sounds silly but I wish more games have this simple yet so useful feature to please our beloved eyes)
It is definitely not silly, it’s good game design IMO.
“Design Cinema – EP 29 – FOV in Games Part 01& Part 2” <- videos with simple and awesome explanation.
Thank you. Interesting stuff. 😉
I wish more games were made in the 6-8 hour range that cost $15-20. I don’t have time for these sprawling 500-hour epics anymore.
There’s literally hundreds of indie games out there that match your description.
I don’t believe it.
Glad we’ve made it known a FOV slider is a necessity. Wasn’t going to give this game a second thought if it only had the default 60.
“Q: Will your glorious beard be shaved now?
A: So basically my beard is a disguise. I’m totally going to shave it off when this game is done, and burn every check shirt I own (5?) and hopefully no one will ever shout “No Man’s Sky FOV Slider?” at me in the street. ever. again. in. my. life.”
At last a great game since DarkSouls…cause only boring games being released so far…included that OverWack
goVEGAN
I was already interested in this game and now I am even more so. FOV is very important to me. You don’t know how important it is until you play a game that sticks you with a FOV of 50 and won’t let you change it.
Thank god that ps4 fov is terrible.
good news!
: )
