  1. *I will not talk about the episodic bs* *I will not talk about the episodic bs* *I will not talk about the episodic bs* *I will not talk about the episodic bs* *I will not talk about the episodic bs*

    1. and i will not talk about that s**ty design 😀 do the same mission over and over and over again with different targets and call it new missions.

      1. I actually don’t have a problem with that, Hitman has always been about playing missions over and over to find the perfect route. And there have often been secondary goals that aren’t all that different from what they said about this game.

I won’t buy the game in bits and pieces though. They need to prove that they aren’t just doing this to get money faster. Of course that is the main reason they are doing it, but I’m saying they need to prove that it’s well planned and actually pans out in the timeframe they set.

  2. I just got home from work… Started up Steam… And Doom Closed Alpha had a super quick 1 kilobyte update.. wonder what that was all about.

  3. 2008 just called guys, they wanted their graphics back!

Oh let me put it this way: If Kane and Lynch (2007) and 007 Quantum of Solace (2008) did the nasty, the graphical outcome would be this new Hitman game 🙂

    1. Least it’s not as bad as Fallout 4…..

RPG’s always lag behind, & this Hitman is pumping out massive Environments, Graphical limitations come with the territory.

      Not to mention….. Consoles, brah.

      1. I beg to differ, you can make amazing graphics and huge environments too nowdays. It’s not a problem. Here’s a few titles that does that: Witcher 3, Watch_dogs, Far Cry 3+4, Assassins Creed Unity+Syndicate, GTA 5, The Division.

They simply use an old outdated engine.

        1. Witcher 3’s got a lot of shine, but also a lot of flaws. It can look amazing, & it can look like utter trash, especially on up-close inspection.

GTA 5’s actual City is roughly 5-10% bigger than GTA 4’s, while the rest of the world is near-entirely empty, so it completely fails to justify why GTA 5 still looks like ass, even with a Dedicated PC Port.

Watch_Dogs was designed to look good, but was also grossly violated to make it appear closer to its Consoles counterpart, it’s only with tweaking we access its real features, which wouldn’t even exist if Ubisoft’s Developers had more information earlier in the Development process. Otherwise, yes, it CAN look quite good, sure. Just like GTA IV CAN look even better than GTA V.

Division has decent visuals, but it’s also not very big, giving it a distinct advantage over the others. It also doesn’t feature cars, the PvP portion is distinctly walled off, & there seem to be only so many NPC’s scattered about. We’ll see when it launches, though.

Far Cry 3 & 4 have certain technical advantages right off the bat by using the Dunia Engine which is based on modified CryEngine Tech, but regardless of that, neither are heavy, dense Urban Environments, giving them a considerable advantage over City-based RPG’s.

Unity & Syndicate have lovely decently-sized sprawling Urban Environments, but overall they look average & don’t push the limits at all, they just look good compared to their predecessors, & have a lovely new Lighting System to boot. Granted, they did increase the Building Scale from 75% to 100%, so there’s the technical side to note, but yeah.

If Arkham Knight were actually performing the way it should be, I’d have brought that one up, but as things are I can see why you didn’t, considering how badly it plays.

Hitman isn’t going to be the next Crysis, no, but it doesn’t look anywhere near what we were getting in 2008.

Considering the dense crowds we’ve been showcased & the lack of any real Technical information, I’m assuming they’re using a modified version of the Glacier 2 Engine, probably just updated for New-Gen Consoles & DX12 compatibility. It’s not exactly a stellar choice, but it does have the specific technical capabilities that they need, & it’s really not THAT dated, compared to other Engines still in use.

          1. Wow i’ve never seen so much bullsh*t in one post.

GTA 5, empty? Looks like a$$?

Division has “decent visuals” ?? And in not big? F*ck do you know about how big it’s gonna be?

FC3/4 – So now graphical fidelity all depends on what setting the game takes place in now?

Unity/Syndicate “looks average” ?? “not pushing the limits” ??

I can’t but laugh at these pathetic statements. Wtf are you actually talking about? What have you smoked? New hitman game looks like SH*T visually, like a game from 2008 era. You’re defending the games visuals based on how big it is?

I know a TON of games that looks 100% better and is both open-world and really large. You’re just full of bulls*it right now.

My word to you is: Get a pair of glasses, upgrade your computer, buy a 4K monitor and stop spreading lots of BS please.

          2. Wow, Hitman’s Beta has things that don’t work properly. Hang on, I’m calling the NYT, this is definitely national news-worthy. The entire Video Game Industry has shifted on its f*cking axis, they have GOT to print this. Front page, man. Front page.

This entire thing is basically a massive apology letter to the Hitman fanbase for Absolution, & indirect recognition of how bad their design choices were. As such, if IO is actually dumb enough to tank it with a broken Launch/really bad Graphics/other, then we can talk. Until then, people need to go remember the meaning of the word “Beta.”

Once again, I stress the technical side of these things; Assassin’s Creed for example routinely loads things in the background as you enter each zone, & this is pretty much standard for all massive Games. You just don’t see it anymore since the loading has become seamless, or at least should be. Hitman loads the entire Map as you enter, including every single script for every single AI on the Map, rather than waiting for you to be a certain distance away from “NPC 1102031” to activate them & trigger their scripts.

Also, actually, yes, from a technical standpoint, a city vs. a jungle environment makes a huge difference, but anyway, I still have to go stop the NYT presses, & call the Merriam-Webster Dictionary people to get the definition of the word “Beta” updated, so ta-ta.

          3. Yeah I am aware that it’s in Beta stage, but I don’t think those shadows etc are gonna be addressed in one month.

Am not racking down on the game itself, I love the hitman series. Am just discussing the graphics here. I know it’s in Beta stage, but Beta also means that all major parts of the game, including the Engine code etc is finalized. Beta also means that there are only minor polishing left until retail. So I highly doubt they will care too much on improving the graphics itself.

I am aware of AC’s bad drawdistance. But honestly it’s not too noticeable for the most part. It’s just a pity you can’t edit it via any config files like you can do with so many other games. The LOD system is a crucial part of big open world games who pushes graphical fidelity. Ubisoft just took it a bit too far in the AC series. However you put it, the new Hitman game is not anywhere near the visual standards that my little list of games do produce, even if AC sure has problems with LOD, it still looks miles better even when taking the bad LOD into account.

You’re still upset about me criticizing the graphics based on the Beta, but I’m afraid it won’t improve anything significant in retail. On a side note though, Division Beta showed extremely good visuals even in its beta build too. Most games beta builds for the most part has only problems with things like bugs, glitches, performance, balance and gameplay related issues, not the graphics.

Anyway, I don’t mind others having different opinions and all, but claiming that large open world games can’t have amazing graphics is just not right, and I had to address that 🙂 Also claiming that urban environments are more performance taxing than nature/vegetative environments is something I have to disagree on, it all depends on how much detail is put into the environment.
