Fallout 4 fans, here is something for you today. Modder ‘Hein84’ released the first Texture mod for Fallout 4 that overhauls the game’s terrain surfaces. What is also amazing is that while these overhauled textures look better than the original ones, they are also about 1/4 less V-Ram heavy.
Those interested can download the mod from here, and below you can find some comparison screenshots (modded version is on the left, whereas vanilla version is on the right).
Furthermore, modder ‘Fr4nsson’ released a new mod that fixes the out blown lights in Fallout 4 both indoors and outdoors and remove skylights a.k.a FakeLights indoors. Do note that this mod makes the game darker.

To bad even with it’s flaws I am enjoying the game. And btw if it was not for me you would not even know about this site…
Playing the Beta patch. Performance is a lot better now. Ultra 1080P 60fps on a single 970. However it still has some dips in certain area’s still but I am sure that will get fixed. Once all the performance is fixed then will be the time to get into the higher texture mods.
That’s how it’s been since Morrowind brah. Ether like it or not. But don’t complain about it if you don’t own it XD.

Well yeah everybody I know that plays it has well over 120/200 hr’s into it. Shame they can’t optimize better let alone make better textures for their games.
I mean Myst for example ran very well for it’s time… And the textures were very compressed or however they did it with hyper card… XD
But not everybody who plays games cares about visuals. And as of right now on a Single 970 with a I7 4770K I can max out the game at 1080p and pretty much almost all the time avg 60 fps now. But I do notice many parts that dip down to 42 fps… But whatever as long as it’s playing and not bugging out on me when doing a quest I will keep a smile on my face.
my main problem with bethesda is their content is copy pasted dungeons and that applies for npcs and now for weapons as well.
You dont need 100 hours, 30 are pretty much the whole game. The rest is copy paste.
you could say that but exploring alone is time consuming XD. And so far it’s been very far from copy and past. XD.
However some of the quest helping people are pretty much same old run in kill mofo’s and run out. But thankfully the crafting saves you from that grind.

I believe you actually meant to say “Electronic Arts is incompetetent to optimise $hit” for pure greed in not releasing the dlc with the mass effect trilogy pack and still charging full price for the sims 3… 6 years after releasing the game.
Yes they are incompetent as fck. Skyrim is NOT optimised well. I literally get more FPS with ENB. FO4 has serious technical issues like draw call limit and no occulusion culling. A lot of ppl with high end PCs report low GPU load in some areas while getting low FPS
EA and bad optimisations? Are you in that anti-EA mindset? Yes EA is a $hit company but their games are properly optimised. Look at SWBF, BF Hardline, etc. This talk was about technical side of the game which Bethesda can’t even touch EA’s DICE studio

Those are some yummy texture improvements. I wonder how extensive the texture mod is.
In any case, gonna keep sleeping on this game (maybe for a year) and come back to it then. Between patches and mods it should be truly glorious by then.
By that time they will have added high definition boobs to everything.

According to the texture modders (yes, this is not the only nor first texture mod) Beth made 2k/2k+ textures but they look like crap so they can make same/lower res textures but look awesome and require less VRAM

It’s sharper yea, but looks way less realistic due to the way heavy shadowing that make no sense in daylight.
I prefer something aesthetically pleasing that fits the environment to something more realistic. In this case the graphics are not very good to begin with, so I think these textures do a pretty good job fooling the brain and making the scene feel more detailed.

Nop, but somehow everyone (even me) thought the demos look better (when we saw them), also that FO4 was going to be an amazing looking game. Somehow we all got fooled, and the demos are just as bad as the released version
Did we all buy into the hype or what happened? 😛 FO4 looks barely better than Skyrim, in fact i think Skyrim looks better in a lot of areas..
Everyone, on every single site, complained about the visual and especially low res/quality textures as soon as first real footage of the game was shown. So not sure who hyped you up, but most people expected just this and we did get what we saw in their videos. For some it’s good enough, for others isn’t, but the point is Bethesda definitely didn’t hype it up with higher quality in pre-release materials.
I dont know haha. I swear every single person that was talking about Fallout 4 was saying how good it looks, and i was as usual reading most of the comments. It must of been a weird day or perhaps everyone was drunk? 😛
The whole “its barely better than Skyrim” thing came after the game was out lol, or perhaps i was drunk/having a weird dream and it was always the case without me noticing somehow :O
I literally don’t know a single person that thought FO4 was going to be an amazing looking game.
I’m not excusing Bethesda’s incompetence in the graphics department or gamebryo’s usage, but I would rather have a developer show me a 5/10 looking game and deliver it than one that shows a 10/10 looking game, downgrade it to a 8/10 while promising it’s still the same.
Yeah! I hate when developers downgrade because it usually just feels like they lied, or tried to hype up the game. Even if that downgrade is needed in order for the game to run okay-ish. I hate the feeling i get from that sort of thing.
P.s. Now you know someone that thought FO4 would look next genish. 😛 Shame it doesn’t , and i wonder if they would ever go to another engine, or will this be another CoD kind of case :O
These modded textures do not look good at all in my opinion. Too much sharpness and strong normal maps….
Wow, the default textures look like crap. It seems that waiting to buy this game at a heavy discount was the correct way to go.

People should be a aware that esp’s are being made with broken or incomplete tools, this is very likely to leave people with broken saves, the same thing happened with early Skyrim mods.

black ops 2 campaign was pretty good. Now on blops 3 tb says its good but the story sucks.
I am not saying the game is crap i am saying that its very linear simplistic. Fallout 4 is the most simplistic and linear cod yet. Its more like far cry than fallout.
