LOST ARK is one of the most impressive Diablo-clones we’ve seen lately. And while SmileGate has not confirmed any Western release yet for its action RPG, it has released a new trailer showing some new gameplay footage from it. LOST ARK looks incredible, so let’s hope that it will find its way to the West. Enjoy!

Amazing!!
It’s not just A-RPG. It’s full fledged MMORPG.
This, Lineage Eternal and Black Desert look awesome.
At first for what was shown I liked more Lost Ark than Lineage Eternal…until I saw more gameplay from Lineage Eternal and now is the one I want the most. Physics and overall effects are top notch!
Though I must admit, Lost Ark is still amazing, the way the world is shaped is just incredible.
Not sure what to say about Black Desert, it looks great and customization is excellent but the gameplay is not quite there for me.
Koreans should make singleplayer games, they have the best bewb physics in games.
I am not much of multiplayer person.
sadly SP games dont tend to make a lot of money normally
Oh yeah Witcher 3 was a total economic disaster.
really? i even said “normally” in case someone with a low IQ read it but i guess not even that helped :/
obviously lots of SP games make a lot of cash, but the big money is on MP games
Single player games are major successes when there’s actual love and effort poured into them. That’s the divide between a flop and a success. The bar is much lower on MP games.
sadly its not the case, i play mostly SP indies, tons of which are lovely crafted, yet hardly anybody hears about them and they normally dont make much cash
theres only a few genres that make a lot of money when it comes to SP and theyre normally open world games (games which i tend to find very generic)
theres also the thing with longevity which MP games tend to do a lot better and still keep huge profit years after release

you can see some of those are really old but still pretty active. im not a fan of open world rpg games but to me they make more sense in a MP context as well. otherwise it seems like those huge worlds are just empty and feel like a waste
but thats just me :p
Lost Ark > Devilian
I don’t really care about Indie games, nor do most people. The conversation was about AAA games.
Companies that make MMOs or MOBAs want to build a platform they can milk for years.
Companies such as CDPR want to make unique, story-driven emotional experiences that immerse you into another world.
since you were talking about “love being put into the game” i assumed you meant indies mostly. its hard to put “love” into something when theres hundreds of others involved in the same project (something which is easily noticeable as well)
of course if you want to “immerse” yourself into another world where youre some maniac thats constantly killing and fighting while “leveling up” arbitrary numbers i guess its better to go with AAA open world RPG games
but dont think for a second the creators of games like league of legends dont love their game, like the creators of WoW or what have you. they pour their life into them for years playing them even in their free time always looking for improvements or how to keep the games fresh. sure the guys at the top might just be in it for the money, but who cares about them?
“another world where youre some maniac thats constantly killing and fighting while “leveling up” arbitrary numbers”
Witcher 3 is the game i mentioned, it’s the only open world RPG I actually like and appreciate, and if that’s what you think the game is about, then you’re a flat out moron who I’m leaning to say hasn’t even played the game.
Things such as leveling and whatever else are by definition arbitrary, meaningless garbage, that was put there in order to trigger a small chemical response in your brain which makes you feel like you’ve achieved something.
yea thats why i hate leveling and games that focus too much on it
and i know the witcher has some good writing and all, but lets be real, the focus is the combat and that stuff. a story driven game makes me think of something like a visual novel, a point and click game or games like “life is strange”. i also love to get immersed in interesting worlds but i cant do that if i have to constantly kill stuff :p but anyways weve derailed enough already
my point is multiplayer games tend to make more money and have a larger life span, so the guys at the top will push for it obviously. that doesnt necessarily mean the games will turn out to be crap (it might though but it depends a lot on the genre i suppose) and also dont forget on korea everybody plays MP games (for better or worse) so releasing an expensive game thats just SP will most likely ruin the studio behind it
i hate when SP driven games change stuff so that they could work better on MP but thats normally done here on the west to prevent people from just re selling the game early (on consoles) and stuff like that
if the game is made from the ground to be a MP driven game it should work fine and MMOs are very capable of having amazing worlds to be immersed in as well even if its probably harder to pull off correctly
anyways im hoping lost ark turns out to be good and it doesnt revolve around grindfests (another very bad thing from korean MMOs) because the combat certainly looked pretty awesome, which is something i see in this genre very often
