Ryse: Son of Rome Will Support AMD’s Mantle API [UPDATE]

German website Hardwareluxx revealed that Crytek’s upcoming PC version of Ryse: Son of Rome will support AMD’s Mantle API. This obviously does not surprise us as most – if not all – future CRYENGINE-powered games will support this API. After all, we believe that this was one of the reasons Crytek decided to implement native support for Mantle in CRYENGINE.

Ryse will support 4K resolutions and aims to look glorious on the PC. In addition, the PC version of Ryse will come with bonus material originally released as downloadable content, including: The Colosseum Pack containing two character skins and two Arena maps; the Mars’ Chosen Pack containing one new character skin, four Arena maps, and the new Survival mode; the Duel of Fates Pack containing two character skins, two Arena maps, and one additional Survival map; and the Morituri Pack, with three new Arena maps, two Survival maps, and five solo Arena maps.

Ryse: Son of Rome is currently planned for a Fall 2014 release on the PC.

We’ve already contacted Crytek and we’ll have a tech interview about this game in the coming months, so stay tuned for more!

[UPDATE]

Ryse won’t support AMD’s Mantle after all. Read our full interview with Crytek’s Nicolas Schulz for more information!

    1. all good baby. am all bout benchmarking my baby, so lets hope this game can make her weep at least a little bit

  1. STEAM or that crap thrashy client from EA? If STEAM…dayone MaxSettings…later next year trying 4k in it!

  2. “Ryse will support 4K resolutions”

John, this makes absolutely zero sense. I can play games on PC that came out years ago at 4k and above resolutions. This is an idiotic PR claim aimed at the ignorant masses.

    1. Native support is different than playing low res games at 4K resolution. You have the pixel density but not the detail. With native you have upgrade high res textures that contain much more detail and produce a far sharper image.

  3. That’s a lot of arena maps. So is this game just a series of arena maps with a single-player story bolted on? Kind of like CoD?
