Mario fans, here is something cool for you today. Super Buzzy Yoshi has just released Super Mario World Remastered for PC. As such, PC gamers can download and play this fan remaster of the classic SNES Mario game.
Super Mario World Remastered features updated tilesets, custom background parallaxes, and refined level layouts. It keeps the core feel and identity of Dinosaur Land intact.
The remaster is mainly made as a custom episode for Super Mario Bros. X. This allows for better physics, custom assets, and a mix of modern and retro gameplay.
It also adds custom graphics, updated HUD elements, and cleaner sprites from community resources such as MFGG. These changes help remove the visual cut-offs seen in the original 16-bit game.
You can go ahead and download it from this link. Once you have downloaded it, you’ll also need SMBX2 Beta 5 Patch 4 to play it. You can download it from here. Install it, and then put the folder “Super Mario World Remastered” inside the “worlds” folder of the SMBX2 main directory.
I strongly suggest downloading Super Mario World Remastered PC right now. We don’t know how long it will be live or when Nintendo will take it down. So, grab it while it’s still available.
Speaking of Super Mario fan games, I also recommend downloading Super Mario Bros. Remastered. Super Mario Bros. Remastered has been recreated from the ground up, featuring improved physics, audio, and graphics. It also has support for full wide-screen monitors. As such, you will see more of the level now on your PC monitor.
Then we have Super Mario Bros. CD Demo. This is a ROM hack of Super Mario World, imagining what an SMB game might be like on a CD-based console. Basically, think of it as Sonic CD but for Super Mario. Here is a twist, though. This fan game is for an imaginary NES CD console, and not for the canceled SNES CD. So, don’t let the parent ROM fool you. This isn’t Super Mario World in CD. This is the classic NES Super Mario Bros. in CD.
Super Mario and the Rainbow Stars is another free Mario game for PC. This fan game aims to bring the unique traits of the Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi series into a fun 2D platformer.
Let’s also not forget Castlemania II. Castlemania II is a Super Mario World ROM hack that mixes Super Mario World with Castlevania. It adds enemies, bosses, and themes from Castlevania. It also features special power-ups, such as axes and boomerang crosses. Each level is split into different sections. Each section ends with a boss fight, much like the classic Castlevania games. The ROM hack also brings back checkpoints between stages and removes the standard in-game timer.
