Focus Entertainment has released Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy on PC. Powered by Asobo Studio’s in-house engine, it’s time to benchmark it and examine its performance on PC.

For our benchmarks, I used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000Mhz, AMD’s Radeon RX 6900XT, RX 7900XTX, RX 9070XT, as well as NVIDIA’s RTX 2080Ti, RTX 3080, RTX 4090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5090. I also used Windows 10 64-bit, as well as the GeForce 610.88 and the Radeon Adrenalin Edition 26.7.1 drivers.

Asobo has added a few graphics settings to tweak. PC gamers can adjust the quality of Textures, Shadows, Volumetric Lights, Draw Distance, Ambient Occlusion, and more. The game also supports AMD FSR 3.0 and NVIDIA DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Gen. And once again, there is no support for Intel XeSS.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy does not have a built-in benchmark tool. So, for our benchmarks, I used this area. This appeared to be one of the most demanding areas for both the CPU and the GPU early in the game.

At 1080p/Max Settings, we were limited by the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D. At this resolution, all of our GPUs were able to provide a smooth gaming experience. Even our NVIDIA RTX 2080Ti was able to offer a smooth experience, provided you use a G-Sync monitor.

At 1440p/Max Settings, most of our GPUs were able to provide framerates over 60FPS at all times. The only GPUs that failed to do so were the NVIDIA RTX 2080Ti and the AMD Radeon RX 6900XT. However, with a FreeSync monitor, the AMD Radeon RX 6900XT can provide a smooth gaming experience.

Finally, at Native 4K/Max Settings, our top five GPUs were able to offer a smooth gaming experience. The AMD Radeon RX 9070XT could drop to 58FPS, but you’ll get a smooth experience if you use a FreeSync monitor.

In short, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy runs extremely well on a wide range of GPUs. Even for gaming at native 4K, you won’t need an NVIDIA RTX 5090. It’s been a while since we’ve seen a game that can run this well at native 4K. So, kudos to the developers for delivering a game that runs so well.

Now, while the game runs extremely well, it does suffer from a number of visual issues. Take, for instance, the first area. For some reason, it does not look as impressive as the second desert area. Asobo has used baked lighting, and the game does not have any Ray Tracing effects. As such, the results are a bit inconsistent. At times, the baked lighting looks amazing. At other times, it feels outdated and a bit bad.

I’m not saying Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a bad-looking game. Its characters are highly detailed, and some of its environments look amazing. However, it has the same visual issues and shortcomings that affect all other rasterized games.

Before closing, I should note that I did not experience any major stuttering issues. During my tests, the game ran fine, without major hitches. Mouse movement felt fine, and there are proper KB&M on-screen prompts.

All in all, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy runs extremely well on a wide range of PC systems. Even at 4K, you don’t need a high-end PC to play it. At the same time, it’s not one of the best-looking games we’ve seen in 2026. It looks great in many areas, but its visual quality can be inconsistent!
