Skyrim Special Edition August 20 Update Released – Patch Notes

Bethesda has just released the August 20 Title Update for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition and shared its full patch notes. So, let’s see what this new update brings to the table.

One of the biggest features of the August 20 Patch is that it increases the console mod storage limits. On PC, there is no change at all.

It’s also worth noting that the August 20 Patch will make the game more stable than before. To be more precise, it fixes a crash when the player opens the Virtual Keyboard on a Steam Deck device. It also fixes a crash when the player ‘selects’ an empty search result in the Creations menu, as well as a crash when the player transforms into a new race.

The Creation Kit should also be more stable after this update. The developers fixed a crash that could happen when closing the dialogue for a Sound Descriptor. They also fixed a crash that could occur when checking loot in a new encounter zone. Another fix addresses a crash that could happen when clicking the Make Use Info button in some menus. Finally, the update fixes a crash that could occur when reloading a mod without an assigned Master File.

And that’s not all. The new patch also brings several tweaks and fixes. Free Creations from Verified Creators now appear correctly in the Verified Creators section of the store. Items enabled in the Load Order should also stay enabled more reliably.

The Delete All Creations option now only removes mods downloaded from the Store. It will no longer remove mods added through other methods. Lastly, the Creations Store should now load faster and more smoothly.

For what it’s worth, I don’t know if this patch breaks compatibility with any mods. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if it does. We’ve seen this happen with past updates.

As always, Steam will download this update the next time you launch its client. Below, you can also find its full patch notes.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition August 20 Patch Notes

Game
  • Increased mod storage to 15 GB for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox.
Due to differences in platform storage systems, PlayStation 4 Creation storage is changed in the following ways: Creations storage expanded to approximately 16 GB, but download size may not match space used because of technical details of the PlayStation 4 console hardware; This may cause download size vs. installed size discrepancies. Storage usage may appear larger than expected when managing Creations; Due to the storage system partitions, PS4 users may experience a practical limit on the number of large Creations installed at once.
