Ubisoft has just released Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced on PC. And, surprisingly enough, its in-game cut-scenes are locked at 30FPS. Thankfully, in just a matter of hours, a mod came out that removes this framerate cap.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced uses the latest version of the Anvil Engine. The game supports Dolby Atmos and Ray Tracing. The devs have used Ray Tracing to enhance the game’s Global Illumination and Reflections.
Ubisoft has rebuilt the combat system to make battles feel faster and more dynamic. The new system puts a greater focus on parries and takedowns. Stealth and parkour have also been improved, making movement and escapes feel smoother.
Players will be able to upgrade the Jackdaw throughout the game. New naval mechanics and alternate fire modes will help you take on stronger enemy ships.
The remake also adds many quality-of-life improvements to make the overall experience smoother and more enjoyable.
In addition, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced includes new story content. Familiar characters such as Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet will return with new storylines. Three new officers will also join your crew as part of the main story.
Players will be able to dive underwater almost anywhere in the game. You can also use your rope to pull enemies toward you during stealth attacks. Another new feature lets you throw coins to distract guards. Together with the improved parkour and combat systems, these changes aim to make the remake feel more modern while staying true to the original.
I honestly don’t know why the devs have decided to lock the framerate of the cut-scenes at 30FPS on PC. On consoles, you could say that they have locked it to avoid any performance issues. But on PC? That’s a big no-no.
I cannot stress enough how awful this 30FPS lock is. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has a lot of cut-scenes, especially early in the game. So, when the game constantly switches between 30FPS and unlocked framerates, it can feel disorienting.
Anyway, you can go ahead and download the mod from this link. To install it, you will have to select all the files inside the zip, and drag them into the root folder, next to ACBlackFlag.exe. And that’s it.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced appears to be running better than Assassin’s Creed Shadows. However, as with most AC games, it appears to have some optimization issues on NVIDIA GPUs.
You can find our 4K, Ray Tracing, and DLSS 4.5 benchmarks here. Our PC Performance Analysis will go live later this weekend. In this upcoming article, we’ll have benchmarks from numerous AMD and NVIDIA GPUs.
Stay tuned for more!
UPDATE:
Apparently, this is a bug and not something the devs intended to do. This 30FPS bug occurs when players set Ray Tracing, BVH, or Terrain Quality to Ultra High. A new update will fix it. Until then, you can either use this mod or set the above settings to Very High.
