NACON has announced a new top-down metroidvania that will be coming to PC in 2027, called Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Rageborn. Set in the World of Darkness, Rageborn sees Taylor rise as a pack leader to become Gaia’s fiercest warrior.
Players will be able to switch dynamically between three forms, each offering unique abilities for combat and exploration. These three forms are Homid, Lupus, and Crinos.
Homid will be your human form. This form excels at ranged weapons, firearms, and crossbows. You can use mobility to your advantage with the kyoketsu shoge.
Lupus will be your wolf form. This form is agile and swift, ideal for exploration, stealth, and silent takedowns.
Finally, Crinos will be your ultimate war form. With this form, you can unleash devastation in close combat with Rage-fueled combos. You can also smash through obstacles and access new areas.
According to the devs, the game will have a brutal, visceral combat system. Enemies will adapt to your fighting style, forcing you to choose the right form at the right moment.
Players will explore and collect mystical roots to deepen their bond with Gaia and unlock new powers. Moreover, the game will have an organic progression system that will let you craft your own build from hundreds of possible Gift combinations.
Enjoy the trailer and stay tuned for more!
