Metro 2039 temp-2

Metro 2039 Officially Announced, Full Reveal Coming on April 16th

Microsoft has officially confirmed that the next Metro game will be called Metro 2039. Moreover, MS will host a digital-only broadcast event, specifically dedicated to it.

As MS noted, this event will offer a world-premiere look at the game. However, we don’t know whether we’ll get a CG trailer, an in-engine trailer, or a gameplay trailer. So, I suggest tempering your expectations.

A couple of days ago, we shared two videos from what appeared to be a very early build of Metro 2039. A day later, we shared a video, showcasing 22 minutes of gameplay from the game’s canceled 2022 version.

From what I know, these are two different builds of Metro 2039. The first one could be a pre-alpha version of what 4A Games is currently working on. That, or it’s a build that was canceled at some point. The second is a version that was canceled in 2022.

Anyway, there is nothing more to share at this point. Personally, I’m really excited about a new Metro game. Let’s also not forget that Metro Exodus was one of the first games that took full advantage of RTGI. So, I really hope Metro 2039 will support Path Tracing on PC.

Stay tuned for more!
